Chapter 19

The next next morning Regina went with me to my appointment with Archie. He basically told me what I already knew but he gave me a few ideas of how to deal with things. Before we left I made another appointment to see him again next week then I drove Regina and I over to the mall. "Are you ready my love? We are going shopping".  She says with a big smile on her face. "Can we start with the game room shopping first?"  "Hmm. Let me think about it. No".  "Hey. You didn't even think about it. That's not fair".  "Sweetheart. If I let you pick out everything for the game room now you won't have any interest in any other room after".  "That's not true".  She raised an eyebrow as she looked at me. "Ok my darling. I'll compromise. For every 3 pieces of furniture we pick out for the house you can pick out 1 for the game room".  "Come on babe. Just 1?"  "Yes Emma. Just 1. We have a whole house to furnish. You have just one room". I let out a sigh. "Fiiiinnneeee". I drag out the word and she laughs at me. "It won't be that bad my love. It's obvious that we aren't going to be getting everything today, so how about as a special gift to you, as long as you are good in the stores, you can pick out 3 additional pieces of furniture for the game room before we leave. How does that sound?"  "You drive a hard bargain Mills but I'll take it". She laughs and kisses my cheek as I continue to drive over to the mall. First Regina dragged us over to the Ethan Allen store. I wanted to start off with the our bed. I saw the one I liked the most out of them all and thank goodness Regina agreed with me. She absolutely loved it. It was called a Georgetown Bed. Whatever that is, but it's so nice. Of course we got it in king size. Then we tested out a few mattresses till we found the right one.  "Ok Gina. 1 piece down 2 to go". I said with a little laugh. "Oh god are you really going to keep count all afternoon?"  She asked rolling her eyes. "Yeah pretty much. Come one let's go. We picked a few nightstands and lamps. Regina picked out her vanity thing that she wanted and then we went over to another store and picked out more stuff. It's crazy to think, but we actually spent like 6 hours shopping. I only picked out 3 things I liked for the game room but that's ok. Regina still owes me 2 more picks for my room because I couldn't find anything I liked where we were and it was getting late and we were both hungry. So we settled up with our in-store shopper. I guess it's someone that writes down everything you want and then orders it and has it all delivered. She took down Regina's name and the woman was already familiar with the account and she told us she would take care of everything. After that we left and went over to Granny's for some dinner. We sat in our usual booth and Ruby came right over. "Hey guys. How's everything?"  Regina said. "Hi Ruby. We're fine. How have you been? It feels like so long since we've seen you".  "Yeah it does. I've been good. Dorothy and I just got back from a week in New Orleans and it was amazing". I just had to laugh because that seems like the perfect place for Ruby to party. She quickly told us what a great time they had and then we all could hear Granny yell for Ruby saying her order was up. She asked what we wanted to drink and then said she'd be right back. While she was gone Regina and I both said how much we missed Ruby and that we should have a double date night soon. She came back with our sodas and then took our orders. I of course got a bacon cheeseburger with fries and Regina surprised us by ordering the same thing I did. "What? It's not my first cheese burger. Leave me alone. Both of you". Ruby went to put our order in and Regina and I sat and talked about our shopping trip. Then we ate when our food arrived. Before we left we scheduled a date with Ruby and Dorothy for the upcoming Saturday night. We were going to go out for a night of dinner, drinks and dancing.  The next few days were filled with Regina and I working our jobs and then as soon as we would get home her mother was right there to put a furniture catalog in our hands. On Wednesday when we got home she actually had an interior decorator at the house with swatches for drapes and wallpaper samples. Regina and I were tired and hungry after working all day and all we wanted to do was relax. If we wanted to shop we would have done a few things online. Unfortunately we had to sit with this guy for over 2 hours till we made Cora happy with our choices. Regina and I got home at 5pm but by the time we were able to finally relax it after 7. We went upstairs and took a nice hot shower together. We were both to tired to do anything else in there besides bathe. When we were done we just had a quick sandwich and then went to bed. The next day was the same thing and that's when Regina had had enough. "Mother I need to have a word with you in private please". Me and this decorator Raul went into the living room and Regina and her mother went into the kitchen. Regina basically told her mother off. Telling her to calm down a little and let us do things our way. We don't want to come home at the end of a long work day and have more work with her and some decorator. When they both came back into the living room Cora apologized to Raul saying that she got her days mixed up and that she needed to reschedule. He was fine with it. He said goodbye to us all then left and Regina and I were free to do as we please and we wanted to change clothes and order some food. So that's what we did. Then we took a shower and laid in bed and watched a little tv. The next few days when we came home from work Cora left us alone and we did a little shopping online and then it was finally Saturday. Our night out with Ruby and Dorothy.
