!!TW: Sickness

[Meiko x Luka]

Luka Megurine couldn't get through a single day without coffee. She was always tired to some degree, and the warm feeling that a single sip brought was heaven to her. Her favorite kind of coffee was a cappuccino, and she got a cup of it at the corner coffee shop whenever she could.

The coffee shop was just a block away from Luka's apartment, and it was fairly small. It went by the name of the Corner Cup, and it's logo was a steaming cup of espresso and a small chocolate heart. Besides various types of coffee, the shop also sold crunchy, fancy biscotti, as well as warm brownies, cookies and donuts. The staff was friendly and kind, and did their jobs well. However, to Luka, one stood out more than the rest.

Her name was Meiko. She had soft, warm brown eyes that showed her true emotions, letting out what wasn't conveyed in her facial expressions. Her hair was short and what most people would call plain brown, but Luka thought of it as coffee-colored. She wasn't really tall or short, but an average height with a fairly curvy, feminine build. She was outgoing and very friendly with customers, always willing to strike up a conversation with someone. Even if you couldn't see it in her face, you could see into her eyes and know exactly when she was upset. Her voice was comfortable and happy, and she'd often smile to herself when she was lost in thought. She worked every day starting at 2 PM and ending at 5:30 when the shop closed. Luka knew this, and she'd always go in between those times so she could see her.

Luka herself was calm and quiet, always careful to not wear her feelings on her sleeve. She thought herself to be fairly anxious, which was true but only to a certain extent. She was also friendly in a gentle way and patient, but didn't like to discuss herself often. She didn't enjoy going downtown, where there was often a lot of business, and being social often wasn't exactly her forte. She preferred to be at home reading with her cat and its kittens.

Today, however, Luka was stuck in the middle of town waiting for her car to be fixed. She'd brought the car in just before she went to work that morning, and was told that her car would be ready at 5, leaving her some time to get coffee. However, it was currently 5:25, and she didn't have any way to get uptown to the Corner Cup. Unfortunately for Luka, she lived in a larger city, and 'across town' was a longer distance than she sometimes would have liked. And so here she sat, reading a book in the office of the body shop as the minutes passed by. It was then that she realized how much she looked forward to the afternoons of each day- she enjoyed the coffee, of course, but she seemed to enjoy seeing Meiko even more than the coffee itself.

She was jolted out of her daze when one of the employees tapped her on the shoulder and addressed her. "Miss Megurine, your car is ready," the man said.

"O-Oh, thank you." She pulled out her jeansbag and opened it, pulling out her checkbook to pay him. The rest of the arrangement took about 3 minutes, and soon Luka was on her way home. She knew there wasn't time to stop by the coffee shop, even though it was on her way to the apartment complex.

As she pulled into the parking lot, she couldn't help but notice the gray car that was parked in the spot designated for the apartment two doors down from hers. Nobody had lived in that apartment as long as she was in the complex, so it was a bit surprising for her. However, what was more surprising when the owner of the car dashed out of the complex still in her work uniform.

The pinkette couldn't help but stare at Meiko as the brunette opened the trunk of her car door and grabbed a box, struggling to lift it. Luka parked and got out of her car, then went over to Meiko as she tucked her keys in her pocket. "Need some help with that?" she asked softly, keeping a smile on her face and trying to keep her pounding tell-tale heart under control for fear of Meiko discovering her crush.
