Puppeteer (Bucky X Reader)

Part 9

You got back to the compound as soon as Thunderstruck by AC/DC ended like it was planned. You got out of the car and Tony wrapped his arm around your shoulders walking you into the compound. "So how was that?" He asked looking at your still red and puffy face. "It was helpful. Thank you so much Tony." You said looking at him trying to give a small smile. "Anytime kid." Tony said with a smile and patted your shoulder.

"Tony what did you do to her?" Nat yelled as she came running down the hallway with Bucky and Clint. "I did nothing! We went out for a drive and it got emotional." Tony said trying to defend himself. Bucky came straight to you, face full of concern. Softly he touched your cheeks and looked you over to make sure nothing was wrong. "Bucky I'm fine." You said trying to swat him away. "Are you sure? Your face is all red and so are your eyes." He said moving some stubborn hair out of your face. "Yes Bucky I'm fine. I was just crying." You said and yawned. All the crying drained you. "Let's go get some water." Bucky said and placed his right hand on the middle of your back to guide you. "Okay, Dad." You said and let Bucky guide you to the kitchen.

After getting two cups of water and an apple you two went to your room to talk. Bucky was weirdly being protective and wanted to know why you where crying. Once you finished half your glass and took a bite of the apple Bucky spoke up. "Why where you crying?" He asked softly before taking a sip of water. "I'll just start from the beginning." You said and sighed getting comfortable against your pillows. "After my workout in the gym I was just sitting there looking in the mirror. I guess I had a panic attack and Tony came in and helped me. It was a bit of a blur till we got in the car if I'm honest. Then we went to see if my dad was still alive..." You began to trail off and look down at the apple you where holding. You felt Buck's hand on your knee. "Sorry. Anyway he's not with us anymore. Then we went to where him and mom are buried. Our last destination before the compound was a storage unit and I got some of my mom and dad's stuff." You said and took a bite of your apple. "I'm sorry Y/n.." Bucky said and looked at you. "It's okay. I just feel bad I didn't grow up with them but hey, what can ya do?" You said and ended it with a chuckle. Swallowing hard you tried your hardest not to cry. Bucky must have know what you where trying to do because he pulled you into a hug. He was nice and warm, yeah his metal arm was a bit cold but it was still nice. You felt safe with Bucky anytime you where with him and for some reason your heart picked up pace. You managed to work your way onto his lap which was also comfortable.

"Whatcha doing doll?" Bucky asked and chuckled. You could feel him talking and the chuckle, it made you smile but you didn't let him see it. "Doll?" You asked and looked at Bucky. "Too much?" He asked a bit embarrassed. "Nope it's fine." You said softly and smiled. Bucky also smiled he couldn't help it your smile made him melt. "You're beautiful." He said softly and rested his chin on the top of your head. "Oh really? Just beautiful? Not sexy or gorgeous?" You asked teasing him. "Well yeah but that's a bit extreme for a first compliment." Bucky said and held you closer. "Also, I'm a bit more used to old school flirting, doll." Bucky said and closed his eyes taking in your smell. He smiled smelling the plum aroma in your hair. Bucky smelt like mint, Moose, and a bit of sweat. "Have you been cuddling with my best friend?" You asked and Bucky tensed up. "U-ium no." He stuttered and took his chin off your head. "Hmmm. Well you sure do smell like him." You teased. "I was just sitting in bed, he came to me." Bucky said and let go of you to hold his hands up in surrender with a smile on his face. "You're under arrest sir for being handsome and cute." You teased.

There was a sudden fake throwing up sound and a smack. Steve and Clint where standing in the door frame. Well, Steve was behind Clint. "Ow!" Clint grumbled and rubbed the back of his head. "Oh hi guys." You said after fumbling off of Bucky's lap. "Yeah, hi." Bucky said looking over at the men at the door. "Tony wants everyone in the living room." Steve said and Bucky nodded. Steve walked away but Clint stayed and turned around and made it look like he was making out with someone. "What are you a twelve year old?" You asked. "Yeah he is." Natasha answered as she walked by. "Hey! It's true but hey!" Clint said and followed Natasha.

You and Bucky shook your heads as you got off the bed and walked to the living room. Moose came out of hiding from wherever he was and joined you two on your walk. Once you three got there you took your seats. Moose laid his head on your lap as you waited for something to happen. Nick Fury and Tony walked into the living room with a few files. Once you saw Nick you tensed a bit. It was the actual Nicholas Joseph Fury. That man knew basically everything about you and everyone in basically the world, hell he might actually know everything about everyone. "Everyone knows Y/n joined us at the compound about four months now. She is very well with combat and at James' level of marksmanship, I believe it's time she went on a mission and see how well she works with you all." Nick said looking around the room there was a few shocked faces and some pleased faces. You honestly where horrified. Part of the team for a mission? That's a lot of pressure not to mess something up and you haven't been on a mission since 1971. "There's no whining about it because I already have a mission for you all. Get suited up and get to the quinjet. I want Stark, Rogers, Barnes, Romanoff, Hughes, Barton, Wilson, and the dog." Nick commanded then left the room.

Natasha made eye contact with you and nodded. You returned the nod and followed her once she got up. You two plus Moose went to Tony's lab. "Here." Natasha said and opened a cupboard that had your name on it. In the cupboard there was a suit just like Natasha's with some black combat boots. "And over here are some holsters." Natasha said and looked at Moose. "Come with me buddy." She said and walked over to the other side of the lab. With a nod of permission from you Moose trotted after Natasha. You went to a separate room to get changed. "Okay, how are my measurements perfect?!" You asked calling out to Nat horrified. "Friday scanned you for them. Don't worry I wouldn't let any of the guys touch you to figure that out." She said and waited for you to come out. You fixed your hair then walked out of the room. "Nice." Natasha said with a smile then pointed to Moose. He had on a black harness and collar that had the SHEILD and Avengers logo on then. "Look at you handsome boy." You said with a chuckle. Moose barked happily then trotted over to you. "By the way, you're our sniper for this mission." Natasha said then left the lab. You nodded then looked over at all the holders. You picked them up one after the other. The only one you didn't pick up was a thigh knife holster, you wanted to use your mom's holster and dad's knife. After jogging to your room you got your dad's knife, dad's pistol, and mom's holster you jogged to the landing pad outside. Thankfully you and Moose weren't the lasts ones, you where still waiting on Clint and Sam. You sat down next to Steve and sighed closing your eyes. You are really going to do this. You can do it don't worry.
