They well up in my eyes.
I blink them away.
Because it doesn't count as crying,
If the tears don't hit the page.
I'm sad and I'm a wreck.
But hey, it's okay.
Because it doesn't count as sadness,
If no one sees my pain.
Author's Note:
I feel like sometimes in society we feel like our emotions are invalid unless there's evidence we felt that way. And that if we just 'blink the tears away' we'll be okay.
We tell ourselves, "You didn't cry, you're fine!"
This wasn't written today, so I'm good! No need to be concerned.
