Chapter 41: The Warning

Vince's  POV

"Just go away. stop bothering me, or I'll slap the white out of your damn ass ." Maria glared at me. she looked so annoyed.

Maria is a girl older than me with a year and the kind that is filled with stamina. She was strong, ruthless and mean. Bothering her is fun if that's the only way to make her fall for my good looks and charms. She is calm and quiet, except you don't wanna bring out the chaos in her. She doesn't have many friends in class.

I like Maria a lot. But seems that she hates me for no cause. The problem between her parents supposed to end at their generation, but not in ours.

"Mari...Mari..." I called her countless times as I follow her.

Maria stopped walking and faced me again, but this time, angrily. "Can you stop following me around? I didn't ask for a chauffeur and to inform you again for the tenth time today, my name is Maria and not Mari. Go play with Marco, I don't give a damn, but don't you fucking fuck with my path." she warns.

I wince as I sniffed. "What did I do? Why do you have so much hatred for me, unlike your brother?"

"Viel, Vin, Vice, Vine...Vinmenzo..." She groans as her tongue rolls on the recreating of my name. "Stop making my life in school a living hell. You're so fucking annoying, Neil Santoro,"

"I just want to know why you hate me so much," I smile like a mad stalker at her facial expression.

She turns around immediately she trashed her empty lunch pack. "You know what? I don't know why you won't stop bothering me and I hate it," she spun around and started walking again.

I follow her. "I like you, Maria Caruso, You're very smart and very intelligent and beautiful," I smiled.

She stopped. When she faces me, I could sense she was ready to unleash the eye laser. She moved towards me and slaps me hard on the face. The kind of slap that can tarnish one's reputation. But this kind was the once that made me fall heads over heels for her. I didn't bother to look at everyone who was whispering in the cafeteria.

"This is my last warning from me to you, Vincenzo Santoro." she spun and walks away.

"I don't understand your sister, Marco," I groan at Marco who was busy sipping on his juice.

"I don't understand her sometimes too," Marco shrugged his shoulder. " But you know our both family history that it's a complicated history man. " Marco said to me, trying to divert from the history talk.

Maria has hated me since we were young because of family conflict. Now, She is Ten and I am nine she still holds gurges against me even when I and Marco are very good friends. I know that my mama can be very annoying sometimes, I've asked my Mama about the Caruso's, and all she could say was that I should stay away from the bloodsucking family. But when I ask my Papa, Pietro about it, he was purely true with all he said.

He said a lot of good stuff about Maria's Mama and he also said that it's a complicated story that when I grew up I will understand everything. I was still five back then when I realized that The Caruso's are a threat to my Mama. My Papa advice me a lot. He said I should never betray the woman that I will love in the future or left alone cheat on her or make her cry. Now, I am in love with Maria Caruso. I know that I am still young. Talking about falling in love by nine, It's normal.

"Papa, why does Maria Caruso hates me so much?" My Papa was immediately frozen hearing the name, Maria Caruso.

He sniffs and looks at his watch. "Ehm," He looks for an excuse.

"Papa, just tell me the truth, I am a grown-up now I can understand anything. Maria hates me but Marco is my very good friend." I frown at him.

"Vince my boy!," He calls with a sad face. "The truth is that you should never talk about the Caruso with your mama,"

I furrow my brows at him. "Why?"

"If you love Maria as you said, Then you will protect her by staying away from her because of your mama. I lose contact with Gisella Molinero, I mean Caruso because when your Mama was pregnant with you, she threatened to take her life and ends Gisella's too if I don't stop seeing or talking to Gisella so she made me promise on our unborn child." He checked his watch again.

"What was your relationship with you and Signora Caruso?" I ask in a lower voice.

"Gisella was my lover back then, and your Mama was Gisella's best friend so she caught I and your Mama on the bed, naked, together. It was like Gisella will run mad so we decided to set her up with Nicolo Caruso. back then, Nicolo was blind and Nicolo's stepmother wants Viola to get Married to Nicolo but I was anxious thinking that it was love I had for your mama back then. So I reprimanded Gisella as the bride through the help of your late grandpapa."

I saw tears dripping from my Papa's eyes. This is the story? Maria mama and my Papa were supposed to be together and Maria's Papa and my Mama together? This explains why Gisella dislikes me with passion. How can I leave Maria alone because of my mama? was she that bad?

"So, what happened next? How did you end up giving up on your past love?" I hold his arm to comfort him.

"I don't want you to be like your mama because she never understand and I never listened. I have to give Gisella peace because the more I wanted her back, the more your Mama does bad things to her," He grimaces.

Who would ever think that I will fall for no one but the daughter of my father's true love? It's a good reason for Maria to dislike me because she doesn't want to get hurt the way her Mama did. That means, My Papa is not in love and was never in love with my Mama. Signora Caruso is the reason why he backed off to be able to protect her and her kids?

"I'll see you tomorrow Vince. My drive is here," Marco said. Bringing my mind back to the present.

I nodded. "Sure."  He enters his rid and I waited for my rid.

"I heard that you've been friendly with the Caruso's?" Viola yells at Vince who immediately drops his schoolbag on the floor.

"Ma...Ma...Mama, I am not friends with them, I swear," Vince stammered.

"You better don't, except you want to bring down ten years of peace," she frowns. "Be a good boy for your Mama. The Caruso's are all Snitches, so be warn or else I'll make your little lover pay the price of her Mama past fate." she smiles as he pats Vince on his shoulders.

Vince shrugged his shoulders. "Ok...okay Mama," He replies and Viola kissed his forehead and walks away. Now Vince remembers his papa's words.
