“That was an amazing swing, Elle.” I felt a hand graze my back.
I half-smiled. “Thanks, Kody.”
His eyes stayed glued to me longer than they should’ve. Without a response, he walked back around the gate to his truck.
It was only him and I here, like every Wednesday morning before classes.
I leaned against the fence as I finished my iced coffee, and heard my phone ding.
I groaned. “It’s fucking six A.M.”
H: I see you
Noelle: What the fuck?
Noelle: Stop being a stalker, oh my god
H: You’ll see me in a second, too
H: Football practice
Noelle: I DON’T EVEN KNOW WHO YOU ARE
Noelle: I don’t have a name or a face
Noelle: So no, I won’t see you
Noelle: I’ll see a bunch of football players
Noelle: The creeper texting me just happens to be amongst them
H: Rude
H: But anyway
H: You look beautiful in your baseball uniform
Noelle: CREEPER
Noelle: But thanks
Noelle: I guess?
H: You’re welcome
Noelle: I’m leaving now
H: NO WAIT
H: You’re my good luck charm
Noelle: I’ve literally never been to a game before
Noelle: Well except twice freshman year
Noelle: So yeah I’m getting in my car
H: It’s a nice car
Noelle: I know
Noelle: Tell Matt to go fuck himself for me
Noelle: Now get off your phone and focus on football, bye
I drove off without reading the last message from H. My Communications class wasn’t until eleven so I took my time getting back home.
I walked in my apartment to see Molly alone on the couch. “Hey! I didn’t see you at all yesterday.”
She smiled at me. “Sorry, Tyler took me to his new place.”
“New place? He moved out of Thomas’s?”
“Yeah. It’s really nice.”
“Good. Thomas is gross.”
She hummed in agreement, then left to get ready for her first class.
I turned on my phone, noticing H’s message.
H: I’ll be thinking of you
I drifted off to sleep with that in my mind.
