"Toothpaste, hairbrush, deodorant, face wash-" I listened to my mother quickly and aggressively list off my carry on essentials

"Yes mom, we've been over this a million times" I stared rolling my 3 jam packed suitcases throughout the airport.

"Yes, I just want to make sure, you know some people-"

"Mom, we're at security" I pointed towards the many black uniforms rustling through bags and passively aggressively yelling at travelers.

"Oh, okay" my mom looked unsure while my dad was falling behind hauling my last suitcase along.

"Jeez, the audacity of some people-" my father stopped short noticing the solemn state

"God, I'm not dying, I'm moving for a few years, and I'll be coming back in a few months" I sighed as my mother pulled me into a tight hug.

"I know, it's just going to be weird with you gone" she released me

"It'll be fine, I'm going to miss my flight, I got to go" I threw my tickets around my bag and handed them to a middle aged woman with bright pink lipstick who placed them on a conveyor belt.

"I love you guys, see you in a bit" I started walking towards the bustling line.

"Be safe, call me when you get there" her and my dad waved as I made it father and farther away from them.

I was ready for this, for a new life filled with new people and new experiences.

*Time Skip*

How I love coming off a long plane ride, if I could muster up all the feelings I feel when exiting a plane into one word I think I would choose "stale".

Dark circles rimmed the underside of my eyes and my un showered self that was trapped in a metal box with trillions of germs was covered only by the lovely smell of "lavender and pine" deodorant.

I had to take a shower...quick.

I then spent 30 minutes attempting to find and then communicate with a black Honda Civic who thought I was his passenger.

And then finally, I was at my "apartment", which consisted of one small room with a bed, desk and connecting bathroom that I would describe more like a shower with a toilet in it.

Of course the first thing I did was take a 30 minute shower ignoring the fact that the water had become uncomfortably luke warm in 15 minutes.

The ramen I had at the airport would hold me over for the rest of the night, I unpacked my few belongings very quickly as my cube of space only allowed for few items, and then passed out on the bed for hours on end.

My sleep was unfortunately ended by a thunderous booming sound coming from my door, I begrudgingly crawled out of bed to open it.

As I looked through the peep hole I was surprised to see a young girl, about my age, and not the landlord.

"Um...hi" I looked toward the girl, who I assumed was native to Korea, she was a bit above eye level and had long straight black hair, her skin was clear and pale and her eyes wide and doe like, she was beautiful.

"Hi, I noticed that you were moving in...I live a few doors down!" She spoke in Korean and it took me a while to catch up

"Oh, yeah...cool" my words came out choppy, "I'm Song Ye-rin, I'm a sophomore at (college name)" she spoke excitedly

"I'm y/n, I'm a freshman at (different college name)" I attempted a soft smile realizing I probably looked insane as I just got up which prompted me to then casually and unsuspiciously wipe any traces of drool that might have been present on my face.
