CHAPTER EIGHT

" jogie-cakes? "

JOHANNA AND RICHIE
TAKE A WARM DRIVE

JOHANNA IVERS SAT GLUMLY ON THE BUS-STOP BENCH IN THE POURING DOWN RAIN. Today's rain was the kind where it's not cold enough to snow, but it's not hot enough to be enjoyable. Sure, Johanna loved the weather, but she was far too cold to enjoy it today.

She wrapped her shivering hands around her cold arms, she was trying to keep the little to no body heat she still had left. She hadn't expected it to rain so hard that day, let alone rain at all. So, she didn't bring her umbrella.

There was also the whole reason she was out, Bolt had been towed because she had parked in a no parking zone. In her defense, she had an unexpected visit from her monthly demon, and she needed to take care of it. And so, there she sat, annoyed and cold, waiting on a bus to school that would probably never come.

She glared bitterly at the road, the rain running down her leather jacket in thick droplets. She paid no attention when the nose of a Lincoln Navigator came pulling up in front of her. She was to busy sulking. She only looked up when she heard the car honk. She shook herself out of her thoughts, looking up at the car. There in the driver's seat sat Richie Tozier.

She rolled her eyes, glaring at the boy. He motioned her to come closer and she reluctantly got up. She walked over and Richie rolled down his car window. "What the fuck do you want?" She grumbled. Richie gave the girl an amused look, and nodding his head to the passenger seat. "Come on, you'll catch a cold." He spoke softly, trying to make no one heard, Richie Tozier, actually give a shit about someone.

She eyed the seat next to him, she wouldn't give in that easily. This is Richie Tozier after all. "Like I'd be caught anywhere near you, Tozier." She spat out.

"Johanna, you can stop it with your 'I'm a big bad mean girl' act, because it isn't fooling me. That bus won't be coming for the next twenty minutes and you know that. You're already soaked, and you're gonna get sick if you stay out here in the cold for much longer."

Johanna continued to eye his car. Richie was right, she would no doubt be late to school if she waited for the bus arrive.

She huffed. "Fine, Tozier. You win this one. But, I'm only saying yes because Mary will have my ass if I'm late. She's already pissed about the detention. you're welcome by the way." She grumbled as she walked around the car, and opened the door. She sat down and got comfortable.

"I'll gladly have your ass any day, Jogie-cakes." Richie spoke, looking behind the car before pulling out. Johanna scoffed crossing her arms and sulking. "One, I'd like to see you try. And two, Jogie-cakes? Really? That's the best you could do?" She raised her eyebrow at him, turning her head to look at him. He sent her a smirk.

"Hey, I thought long and hard on that." He frowned. Richie took one of his hands off the wheel to play with his hair. "It wasn't long enough, Tozier." She muttered back at him, turning her head to glare at him. "That's a first, normally they say it's to long." Richie pulled the car to a stop at the light, smirking at the girl beside him. He turned his head to look at Johanna. "Who's they, Rich? I thought I was your one and only! I'm hurt." She showed him a smirk of her own. "Yeah, but a guy's gotta play the field." Richie broke out into a huge grin. Johanna just couldn't help but smile back at him.

The two shared the moment for a small while, until a honk broke the silence. "Shit." Riche muttered before pulling off. Johanna snickered at the boy's cluelessness. Richie sent the girl a small glare and she poked her tongue out at him.

The two sat in comfortable silence for about ten minutes before Johanna started to get bored. She reached her hand for the radio to jam to something at least. The sound of Roger Taylor's high voice flooded the car as he pelted the lyrics to 'I'm In Love With My Car'. Johanna instantly snorted as she turned up the radio. She smiled at the familiar sound of Brian May's guitar and Freddie Mercury's piano. She could picture John Deacon bouncing around the stage as he played the bass. Queen was truly the girl's favorite band.

"Seriously, Jogie-cakes? This song is fucking shit." Richie groaned.

"Can it, Tozier." She hissed as she sat back in the seat. Looking out the window, Johanna's head started bobbing to the beat as she quietly hummed the rhythm. Richie causically looked over at the girl as the song picked up. "When I'm holding your wheel, All I hear is your gear, With my hand on your grease gun." The girl mumbled along to the song.

Richie rolled his eyes and he turned off the radio.

Johanna turned it back on, "Fuck off, Tozier."

"Ditto, Ivers." The boy leaned forward, turning it off.

This continued for a while until Johanna was only continuing out of spite, Richie only went on because he loved when Johanna got angry. "Seriously, Tozier! You are so goddamn annoying, I don't see how I used to let you kiss me! Jesus!" Johanna huffed, sitting back and crossing her arms, finally fed up with his shit. She was only happy that they were close to being at school.

"Let me kiss you? Joe, you practically begged! Hell, you still beg for it." Richie groaned. The way the boy watched her out of the corner of his eye drove Johanna crazy. She wanted him to stop staring at her with that look in his eyes. Something about it sent her stomach into knots and heat to her cheeks. "Eyes on the road, Tozier." She muttered, turning her face away from his view. She wouldn't let him see her reddened cheeks. She told herself it's because she hated him.

But Richie knew the effect he had on the Ivers girl, he could read her like a book. He smirked as they pulled into a parking spot. Johanna instantly threw herself into the door, trying to get out. But, Richie was faster. "Tozier! This isn't funny, unlock the fucking door." Johanna whined as she turned her head widley.

"You didn't deny it." Richie spoke softly.

"Sh-Shut up, Tozier." Johanna stammered. Fuck. That was the first time that happened in two years. Richie brought out everything Johanna tried so hard not to be.

Richie looked just as shocked as Johanna. The blonde took this as an opportunity to escape. She quickly unlocked the door and fled out the opening. She sprinted away from the car, and ignored what she heard next.

She's supposed to hate him.
