sun, soil, water
build them up just to falter
moon, asphalt, sand
another yellow petal lands
the beginning of the end
i have to start all over
with dirt stained nails and sun exposure.
but this is important, a trench two inches deep
with water and twilight sleep
i plant these seeds to start fresh
to birth green stemmed flesh
facing the right way this time
i hope these sunflower seeds sprout warmth
i hope these sunflower seeds sprout growth
i hope these sunflower seeds are transformed
