A Clydesdale is a heavy horse. A gentile giant some might say. Clydesdale was originated in the Clyde Valley region of Scotland. The Clydesdale was developed from crossing a hardy Native stock with Flemish horse and also Shire.
The Clydesdale is lighter than the Shire and also has longer legs. A Clydesdale is a draft horse. This breed is known for a high stepping and strongly built body. These horses are usually used for wagon pulling. Clydesdale's were known for the "breed that built Australia" Clydesdales are slowly getting rare and are on the native list "at risk" A Clydesdale is one of the best heavy horses thanks to its breeding history. All the horse breeds put into this horse help it be the strong muscular horse it is today.
Quote - " The Clydesdale is described as a flamboyant style, a flashy, spirited bearing and a high stepping action."
~ Spirt of the horse
