CLEMENTINE
"100.8" My mother said. She kissed my forehead, then got up to leave. How on earth did I get sick? So quickly as well, I hadn't even been at school before I started feeling awful. I felt like I could go, I didn't want to miss any school. Not so early in the year.

"Mom, I can go!" I hollered. I tried sitting up but everything started to spin. I plopped backwards in my bed sighing. Maybe I can't.

I was determined to get to school, so I forced my legs out of bed and into the restroom to freshen up. My eyes had bags under them as if I hadn't gotten any sleep. I sounded very congested, and my hair was all over the place. I brushed my teeth, put my hair up in a ponytail then headed out. It seemed chilly, despite the summer weather, so I decided on an old pair of jeans I had gotten from a local thrift shop, and a sweatshirt. Putting on my converse, I noticed a small opening on the sides. It would have to do since they were my only pair. This just caused me to get more excited about the weekend.

Walking out into the kitchen, I got a look from my mom and two siblings who were both eating some toast.

"Are you sure you're okay to go Clem?"

I nodded in response.

She sighed in defeat, "Alright, but take this before we head out."

I grabbed the white pill from her hand, then proceeded to the refrigerator for some milk to down the pill. I felt a large sneeze coming on and I quickly covered my nose and mouth.

Everyone was staring at me.

"I'm alright!" I wiped my nose smiling, "See."

My mom shook her head smiling, "Alright, let's go everyone."

The car ride to my school didn't take too long, so I was there rather early. The medicine did a great job with suppressing some of my symptoms, and I was okay with that. I almost forgot about the phone conversation Grayson and I had last night. He was truly a character, I wish we could've talked longer. It was surely the longest I've ever stayed with a boy on the phone considering I've never done it in my life. I was excited to talk to him again today.

Ethan wasn't all bad, the only thing about him was how flirty with me he was. You couldn't help but laugh.

Walking up to my locker, I immediately notice Ethan next to it.

"Hey princess." He smirked. I could tell he was eyeing my outfit as if I had gotten it out of the trash. But I was use to that, and also seemed like he didn't mind.

"Hi." I said.

"Are you okay?"

I nodded, "Just a little under the weather."

"Do you want to skip and grab a snack?"

"I'd rather not." I giggled.

He smirked, "Ah, come on green eyes. My brother calls you that. But, come on it'll be fun. Have you ever done anything like that?"

I started walking, and of course he followed behind me. I wasn't really annoyed, but I felt pressured to skip school even though I was terrified of the consequences. It was obvious Ethan, was used to getting in trouble for awful things. But, it didn't really stop me from talking to him which was shocking. He was cute, and he had a wonderful personality despite his delinquent behavior. Sometimes you couldn't help but laugh at him.

"Please." He begged.

"Bro." I heard Grayson.

"What?" Ethan looked at him.

"Stop pressuring the chick."

Chick?

"It's fine, I can handle myself." I spoke up, but Grayson just rolled his eyes at me.

Ouch?

Ethan rolled his eyes as well, but turned his way back to me, "How about party then?"

"N-" Grayson started but Ethan cut him off.

"This Saturday." He smirked.

"I mean, I guess. But I don't have much to wear." I shrug.

"I'm sure you can find something, princess."

Grayson was just standing there listening. Why was he so opposed me going to this party. I haven't been in this school that long, and I hardly knew these two. But they were okay nonetheless. It wasn't like I was abusing drugs, I'm sure my mom would understand. Maybe I could find something cute at the thrift store in the morning when we go.

"What time?" I asked.

"I'll pick you up at 8."

"Okay." I nodded.

Grayson looked like he was in deep thought. It shocked me that he was still standing there but the time Ethan walked off.

I was nervous but excited at the same time. This was my very first party, with kids who look or dress nothing like me. I didn't really want to attract much attention to myself. But I also didn't want to miss out on any cool chances coming my way this year.
