Chapter 17

Guess who came to the hospital half an hour ago . Just before daddy's surgery over .

Aleric North Wilder showed up at the hospital handful with coffee and breakfast for all of us catching me off guard .

Here I was depressing thinking we were over. Well , we weren't dating to broke up anyway. But at least what I thought we had an unofficial relationship .

He was freshened up and dressed in new clothes . He is wearing black suit with white dress shirt underneath . His hair perfectly combed but his dark eye bags and red eyes showed off his depressed thoughts.

Neither he nor me tried to speak a word. He handed me foods and sat on next couch next to ours without saying anything. But I didn't miss his depressing sigh when he went away from me . He must be tired.

We both need some time to cool off and think before we talk because since we both are tired . It will end up badly just like earlier if we talk now.

My mom was surprised with his sudden visit but I know she guessed who he was . Tait didn't notice North but Ray was awake when North came and give me foods.

I'm glad that she didn't question me. I'm not quite ready to talk after my last encounter with North .

I could feel North's stare on me while I sit with my family . I didn't turn around eventhough I badly needed to know what he is thinking. I mently chanted over and over again to focus on my family now .

But ending my misery daddy's surgery finally ended and doctors came out with smiling after a successful surgery .

We all cried when we confirmed that the surgery was successful and with therapy help daddy would be able to walk again . We were able to visit him once he was moved to his room . My mom and I only saw him just after the surgery while he was unconscious .

Daddy was awake and happy . I couldn't help but thank everything in the universe for bringing back all the happiness to my family .

I slowly came out from the room without disturbing my happy family with every intention to return quickly before others notice my absence . I know for sure that my mom would cover for me even if something happen because I know she understand the situation .

North was still sitting on the same couch he was earlier with an unreadable look on his face. He looked lost in another world. He hardly notice glances thrown towards him by both visitors and hospital crew. I'm sure that many of them already recognized him.

I slowly walked towards him and hearing my footsteps he lifted his head to look at me. His blue eyes bored into my brown once. I noticed they held dark grey colour not usual silver colour making me shudder .

I took his hand and he looked surprised with my bolt action . He stared hard at our joined hands without blinking . I tugged his hand letting him know what is my intention .

He get the idea and get up from the couch and letting me to drag him with me without any word. I wanted moment with privacy knowing fully well we can't talk freely here without catching others attention .

We entered to the top floor where there is a garden at rooftop . It was beautiful and gave away attractive scenery at the morning . I was used to watch the sun rising with mother when I was young .

North looked around to observe his surrounding but his face remained boring stoic expression .

We both sat on a bench facing the rising sun quietly . I gave his hand a gentle squeeze , I was still holding his hand . For the first time I'm the one doing it and it was such nice feeling his rough warm handaround my small ones.
