2. Honey it's our date

A week later

As I stopped the car and got out, I could see her waving at me from a few feet away. She had been smiling cheekily and I couldn't help but think, "What was she upto?"

With a forced smile, I walked up to her. "Hey Nandini." I tried saying it causally but I knew I failed miserably.

"Hey Manik." She returned back my gesture. "See I remember your name."

What was she upto? "Yea you remembered..."

"Honey." She said in a sugarcoating tone and that made my insides squirm. Moreover she had this constant smile on her lips. "We go on dates in the place we like. Right?"

"Uhhmm yea." I nodded my head slightly and she smiled wider.

"I don't like this cafe." She said with that not so innocent face of hers.

"But our parents set up this date and even this place." I explained.

"Is it our date or theirs?" She asked.

"Ours." I replied.

"Then the place should also be of our choice. Right?"

"Uhhh right. So umm... where do you want to go?" I asked. She was surely up to something but I couldn't help but give in.

Her smile got wider and no doubt she looked beautiful but you know she just wasn't my type.

"I'll tell you the directions. Let's go." She said as she walked ahead of me.

"But where are we going?"

"You'll know after we reach the place." She looked at me from over her shoulder, the smile still playing on her lips.

"You aren't going to kidnap me, are you?" I said as I matched up with her pace.

She turned her head towards me and slowly ran her left hand down my right arm, smiling cheekily, she chirped,"Don't worry honey I am not planning to kidnap you and you know... cut open your heart, at least not for now."

I abruptly moved away from her and I could hear her jeer. "Nandini stop cracking such type of jokes. They aren't even funny."

"That wasn't a joke and I obviously wasn't trying to be funny." She said with a straight face but a second later her lips again curved into a smile. "Honey come on let's go."

"Stop with this honey thing and stop smiling like that." I knew she wasn't going to listen to me but still I couldn't hold it in any longer.

I could see her smile even more widely and irked me even more. "C'mon... honey sounds so good and I have the right to smile so I'll smile."

I shook my head and exhaled, trying my best to stay calm. Business. Business. I reminded myself. Huff! What did my dad see in her?

"Do as you wish." It was worthless talking to her. I walked upto the car and sat on the driver's seat and she sat on the passenger's seat.

I started the engine. "Where should I go?" I asked.

"Just go straight for now." She said, looking at her phone screen.

Throughout the time I had been driving straight, she had been busy with her phone. I cut a glance at her phone screen and I could see her texting someone. I had no idea whom she had been texting but I was mentally thanking that someone who had been keeping her busy.

"Nandini right turn or left turn or should I just drive straight?" I asked as I slowed down the speed of the car.

"Right." She said with her eyes stick to her phone screen. I nodded my head as I turned the steering wheel to the right and slowly hit the gas. After that I again drove straight forward.

"Oh! Wait... I think it was the left turn and not right." She said and I abruptly hit the brake.

"What!" My head snapped towards her and I could see her make an innocent face. It had almost been five minutes since we had taken that turn.

"Sorry honey." She apologized with that not so innocent face of hers and it irked me. Tightening my hold on the steering wheel, I exhaled slowly.

"Left turn. Okay... left turn." I said to myself as I looked at the sidemirror and slowly reversed the car.

She sure knew how to get on my nerves. If only not for the business, I wouldn't even see her.

"You are doing this on purpose, aren't you?" I asked rather accused with my eyes focused to the road.

"What if I am?" My head snapped towards her and she let out a pretended laugh. "Just joking...I wouldn't even think about pulling such pranks on you."

"As if I will believe that." I mumbled under my breath, focusing on the road.

I had been driving straight for fifteen minutes with absolutely no idea about our final destination and there she had been busy humming songs. How annoying!!

"Nandini could you please tell me where we are going?" I asked ever so politely. Through the corner of my eyes, I could see her look at me.

"We are going straight right now."

"I know we are going straight right now....I am asking you about final destination." I specified.

"We are going to..." She trailed off.

"Don't tell me you don't know where we are going."

"No I don't." I heard her say and my head snapped towards her. "Just kidding... I know the location."

Ten minutes later, she asked me to stop the car. I looked outside only to get the shock of my life.

"Why are we here?"

"For our date." She replied innocently as she took off her seatbelt and got out of the car. I hit my head on the steering wheel, mumbling curses under my breath.

"Honey come out." She called and I raised my head from the steering wheel to look at her.

"This isn't a place for dating." I stated. Like who in the world would go on dates in such places?

"But it is for me." She smiled cheekily. "C'mon honey it's our date."

She brought me to the place which I hated the most.
