Chapter Eleven: "Save the lies for Jerry Springer"

"Sofia?" He called out again.

"No, I'm not Sofia!" I answered back stupidly, slowly backing away from the door.

"I'm not stupid, Sofia. I can see you."

"What the hell are you doing here?" He snapped, and took one step forward, making me take one back. I really didn't like the idea of Mason towering over me, with that almost frightening scowl on his face. He really didn't look happy.

I was at loss for words.
What was I supposed to say? That I stalked him from our neighbourhood to this random gym he went to in the middle of the night?

Yeah. No way was that happening.

"I, umm...you see, funny story! I was driving to my-my," I was beginning to panic. I'm not really used to all this lying in one day.

" To the um.. thing, for a jog...and I so happened  to have gotten lost along the way, so um, I-I passed by this gym, and..to see if it was open— which it was — and I went into the building, um..to see if anyone was there, t-to give me, erm, directions..to the thing I was heading to?" My voice definitely didn't match my face. It was pretty obvious that I was lying.

Although, I gave myself a pat on the back for coming up with a lie, in all that short amount of time. Way to go, Sofia. Two lies in one day.

Mason sighed, putting his hands on his hips. "Just admit you were stalking me, you creep."

No way in hell, was I going to admit that I was "stalking" Mason Franklin. All I did was follow him from my house...that wasn't really stalking. In my opinion.... I was just checking on him...He should thank me.
I folded my arms. "I wasn't stalking you."

"Please. Save the lies for Jerry Springer" he retorted and walked back into the gym.

What was that supposed to mean? Was he calling me a liar? Sofia Mendes was no liar-

"Save the attitude for Maury!" I fired back, also walking into the huge gym. I watched as he proceeded to punch the bag, his AirPods placed back in his ears. Something told me he was ignoring me, since he wouldn't reply when I called out his name.

"Mason!" I yelled for the last time, my patience wearing thin. "Damn it. I'm sorry,OK? I was freaking stalking you and I'm ashamed!"

"AH-HA!" Mason yelped in victory. He removed his boxing gloves and AirPods, placing them both on the matted floor. He walked over to where I was slumped down on the gym wall, near the entrance door.

"So you admit that you were indeed stalking me? I fucking knew it."

I shrugged. "I wasn't stalking you...I was just curious about your whereabouts. It's normal..ish"

Mason ran his hands though his face, frustrated. "Sofia, you just told me you did."

Oh right—I did—didn't I? I thought he wasn't listening to me. It looked like he ignored me until I finally told him the truth. Fine, I'll give him an A+ for tricking me into telling him the truth.
