The meeting was set for the afternoon, so Alec had time to do the remaining paperwork. He couldn't fully concentrate however, Magnus' words were chasing him.

You're just.. never here

It had hurt to hear that, it had hurt because he knew Magnus was right. The last weeks had been packed with work, even on Saturdays. He had slept half of the Sundays through because he was so exhausted.

Magnus hadn't complained, not once. Alec had thought he was probably busy the whole day as well, mixing potions, helping clients, he hadn't realized how much his husband had suffered from being apart.

Alec had been so busy that he hadn't even realized that the emptiness which had slowly crawled up his inside, came from not spending enough time with Magnus. He needed change that.

He left his office at five to one and walked to the meeting room. His sister, Jace and Clary were already there.

"Where's Magnus?" Clary asked when she saw Alec enter.

Alec shrugged and sat down, not in the mood to show her how badly he needed to see him.

Magnus arrived ten minutes later and seemed a little stressed. "Sorry I'm late.." he said and sat down next to Alec on the long table.

"Hey" Alec said softly and leaned over to catch a kiss. All he got was a short peck on the lips, before Magnus straightened his back and gave his attention to the others.

"I want the book." He said and looked directly at Jace.

"Good Morning, Magnus." The blonde answered and raised an eyebrow.

Magnus didn't respond and waited for Jace to tell him where this mysterious book was.

It could probably give them some answers about the baby's odd color. Alec wasn't sure however, if Magnus believed him what he had seen.

"I gave it to Catarina. I thought, it shouldn't lay around and get in wrong hands."

Magnus gave him a sursprised look. "That was.. actually pretty smart."

Alec sighed deeply and tapped his fingers nervously on the table, wondering if he had done something wrong because Magnus was so focused on everything but him

Alec sighed deeply and tapped his fingers nervously on the table, wondering if he had done something wrong because Magnus was so focused on everything but him.

His husband had gotten up before him today and already rushed around. He had made him breakfast as always but hadn't joined him and Alec slowly felt that they were drifting apart, a feeling which made his insight crumble painfully.

Jace gave Alec a small upset gaze, obviously asking him to make his husband behave. Alec just returned a light shook with his head. If Magnus wanted to be snappy, fine, as long as it wasn't against him.

"It was." Jace said when he realized his parabatai wouldn't help him. "I know you're the high Warlock but I figured, I shouldn't distract you and Alec last night.. I still have nightmares from that time when you forgot to lock the door and..-"
