Alec had always known that he brought bad luck. He was a gay Shadowhunter who had been crushing on his parabatai, he would always break his arm whenever there was a big tournament for archery, he had almost poisoned the family dog when they had been kids, he had lost his brother and almost his husband. He truly wasn't a lucky charm.

But ever since the war had ended, things had turned to the better. He had become inquisitor, married the most beautiful man in the world, got praised and admired for his work, had an accepting family, was healthy and able to fulfil his duties.

Then Max had shown up, his beautiful boy. Maybe he should have known that this had all been too good. Destiny must have decided to take a step back and make it hard for him once again by having Max be one of those ancient creatures.

The story felt so unreal. He would have never thought that nature was capable of giving specific individuals such a gift and so much power within it. But all that had happened before Jesus was even born, so how on earth was Max here?

"Daddy." Max said proudly when Alec spoke and the hunter sighed a bit, his heart full of love and concern. "Yeah, that's right. I'm Daddy and this is bapak." He said again nodded to Magnus.

Alec knew Max wasn't officially their son yet but for him, internally, he was. There was no way the Clave would deny them, at least he had thought so until now. For some reason, he already knew that Magnus intended to hide the fact that their boy was special and something no mortal had ever seen before. He wondered if there were Warlocks who were old enough to know about such thing as the Ankasth. He wasn't sure if he really wanted to know, how the angels had hushed them.

Max looked at Magnus and then back at his hands, turning the tips of his fingers blue. "bababa" He mumbled and seemed to have lost interest in saying reasonable things.

"So, apocalypse.. and I suppose the angels won," Alec said and looked back at Catarina, bouncing Max on his lap now.

"Of course they did. All the Akasth died and that's it."

"What do you mean that's it?" Alec asked confused.

The female Warlock turned the pages until the last picture and showed it to Alec. You could see a few angels who stood on a pile of corpses, raising their arms in victory. He couldn't really believe that his sacred angels had truly done such a thing.

"But.. but Max."

Max looked up, knowing his name had been said. "huh?" he asked and gave Alec an adorable curious gaze.

"You're a miracle, Blueberry!" Magnus said cheerfully, probably not wanting to worry his boy. He grabbed him and threw him into the air to catch him again. Max hovered a little, like he always would, squealing in joy and then fell back into his father's arms.

"So the angels have been hiding this for centuries.. millenniums because it would bring shame on them?" Alec asked.

"We think so. Angels are pure and good beings, they probably didn't want this all to end in a war but it did and I'm guessing they just want to forget that they erased a whole species because of the fear they had. Because of Yerkir.

Alec was speechless as his head slowly processed this massive lot of information.
