"Traitor!" howls one of the hyena's when he sees Hasira.
Hasira growls, "Traitor?! How dare you call me that you little-!"
"Hasira!" yells a voice that makes her stomach churn.
The hyenas step aside as their alpha makes his way through towards her. Hasira lowers her head in respect before slowly looking up at him. He wore a scowl on his face and he smelt like smoke.
"Dad," Hasira says quietly.
"I've been told you were with the enemy," Janja says.
"I don't know what you're talking about," she snaps.
"But we saw you take the enemy to the border! You didn't fight!" Bingwa yells.
Hasira glares at her idiotic brother and scoffs, "That's what you saw? That's laughable, even for you. We all know that he can be easily confused".
"We know it was you Hasira. I was with him," Hatari says stepping forward.
Janja turns and starts to walk back inside the volcano, motioning his head for her to follow. Hasira, keeps quiet as she follows. Janja walks up to his usual spot, overlooking the lava. It was still crazy to think that Scar, the Pridelands greatest threat used to be here in spirit form but as expected, the lava only bubbles slowly and no spirit appears.
"Kion's son?" Janja asks.
Hasira lets out a breath, "Yes".
"Does he love you?"
"Yes".
"What is your plan?"
Hasira's ears perk upwards and her eyes widen. Did she hear him correctly? No. She couldn't have. She was going to die. She knew it.
"What is your plan?" Janja asks again.
"My plan?" Hasira asks, "You mean, I'm not a traitor?"
"Oh come now Hasira. You're smart, just like your mother. I know you would never betray the clan. You have to be using him somehow, right? I want to know your plan".
Was this really happening? She's not gonna die? If she goes along with this, she'd be lying to her clan. And what about Siku? He might think she'll be betraying him. When he's served his purpose he'll be dead for sure.
"Yes...I am using Siku. I have made sure that he can trust me so when the time is right, he will be like my little puppet and he'll have no idea. I haven't actually come up with a plan yet but it's a start...right?" Hasira says, trying not to stutter.
Janja looks at her, contemplating what she had said. A smile, a wicked smile, etches onto his lips. He pats the space beside him, urging her sit beside him. She does.
"Siku, you said his name was, right? I want to meet him. Show him our clan and how much we are suffering living in this wasteland," Janja says, as he comes up with his plan.
"You won't hurt him, will you?" Hasira asks.
Janja scoffs and rolls her eyes, "Of course not. We need him to trust us. Soon, he'll be one of us".
Hasira nods, "I'll try to convince him to meet you".
"Thank you Hasira. Your mother would be proud, as am I".
Hasira smiles as Janja puts his paw under her chin to raise her head. He smiles at his daughter proudly but with also a hint of sadness. Hasira knew it pained him to see her because she looked just like Damu, her mother. If only she hadn't been murdered by her father's nemesis...
