Chapter Ninety-Two:

Trying to wake up out of this deep sleep felt strange; it felt like I was being held against my will in a darkness that seemed forever unbreakable, and then when I would finally reach the surface and touch a blinding silver light the drugs would pull me back underneath the sea of darkness once again, a fight which I would never give up on but felt as if it could never be won. Through the darkness I could hear faint voices and sounds; the sound of a clipboard being placed on a table or even voices calling out my name when I scratch and claw my way up to the silver surface of light, only to be forced back into unconsciousness.

'You need to fight and wake up.' A familiar voice demands. Scott's voice.

'I'm trying but it seems impossible.' I respond back.

'Try harder.' He presses on. I can't see or feel him but I know Scott is there with me, and he's trying his best to snap me out from the drugs that the doctors had given me before the surgery to knock me out instantly. With a strength I didn't know I possessed I used my legs and pushed myself up to the surface, like kicking the bottom of a swimming pool and darting up to the surface like a bullet. As soon as I reached the light I continued beyond it, shatters of broken glistening glass shining with illuminating colors breaking all around me. I quickly covered my face, thinking that the glass would cut me, but as they touched my skin the shards of glass turned into sparkling sand where it showered down all around me like a waterfall. I smiled, another light being seen where I raced for it.

I opened my eyes slowly where I was staring up at a small flashlight one of the doctors was hovering over my eyes, the doctor checking my pupils. He pulled away instantly, though a smile was on his face as I glanced around the room, seeing I was now in some sort of private recovery room. The first thing that I felt was that something was wrapped around my head, but when I went to go and touch it, the doctor quickly shook his head.

"Don't touch the bandage quite yet."

"Where's my family?" I asked in confusion, taking note that they weren't in the room.

"Josh is in the waiting room with your children and the rest of your family. I'll go tell them that you're awake."

"Okay." I nod as the doctor leaves, only to be replaced by a young red headed nurse with a chart in her hand.

"My name is Kristen. Is it okay if I ask you a few questions?" The pretty nurse asked while pulling up a metal chair up to my bedside. "It's only simple questions to see how your memory is."

"That's fine." I sit up slowly as Kristen hands me a cold cup of fresh water, which I take while thanking her.

"Let's start off with something easy. What is your full name?"

"Ashley Rose Gustavson." I respond easily.

"When is your birthday?"

"June 21st."

"How many children do you have?"

"Five. Four are alive and the other passed away." I look away towards the window as I answered.

"Who are you married to?"

"Josh Hutcherson."

"Do you remember anything of your life before the two year coma?" The nurse asked, knowing from reading my file that I had no memory at all from my old life before the coma happened.

"I remember everything now." I responded with a nod, catching Kristen off guard.

"You do?"

"Yeah," I nodded again, taking another sip of water before continuing. "I remember who Scott is and have every memory of him, as well as Abigail's birth. I now remember my entire life before the accident." I watched as Kristen swiftly scribbled notes onto a blank piece of paper attached to the clipboard.

"It was only a matter of time." Kristen smiled, looking back up at me as the door to the room opened, my family and friends filing in as Josh held Grayson.

"Mommy!" both Arianna and Jacob cheered at the same time while climbing up onto the bed and made their way towards me. I laughed, hugging the twins as Abigail walked over and embraced me with a hug of her own. Josh followed suit on the other side and rested Grayson on my lap before hugging me, Kristen smiling while handing the clipboard over to the doctor.

"She remembers her life before the coma."

"Really?" Josh gasped in shock while looking at the nurse and then back over towards me.

"Everything suddenly came back." I nodded. At first I wasn't sure how Josh would take the news since I now remembered every little emotion I ever felt for Scott, but when I saw that Josh was happy about the situation it took me off guard, though I didn't question it. My hands went back up to the bandage again and instantly felt that all of my hair was gone, having been shaved off for the surgery. I sighed, hoping that it would grow back quickly.

*Two Months Later*

I sat at the kitchen table going through fan mail that people from all around the world sent to my PO Box wishing me to get well soon and that they hope I start another novel series, which I'm actually planning on doing. I was currently alone in my beach house in California since a horrible storm was near the island that we lived on. Well I wasn't completely alone; a bodyguard was patrolling the outside of the house to make sure there wouldn't be any unwanted visits and Grayson was taking a nap in his crib. Abigail was at school as well as the twins, though Josh was riding around on his motor cycle just to feel the fresh air.

My dark brown hair grew back in but was extremely short now, having the same pixie cut Emma Watson had; luckily I didn't look bad with short hair, though I couldn't wait for it to grow out. As I was opening another fan letter a sudden chill ran through my body which made me glance up from what I was doing; it felt as though the warmth in the kitchen was being drained, so I knew what that meant. I smiled, standing up and waiting for something to happen.

"I know you're here." I walked towards the refrigerator where different colored magnetic letters stuck onto it, watching as they began to move on their own. Ever since I came back to life Scott has been keeping in contact with me and explained that the reason why he never made contact before was because he didn't want to risk scaring me, but now that I knew it was just him I haven't been frightened, though he only makes contact when Josh and the children aren't around; none of them know about this. Both Scott and Jonathon are able to enter my dreams now as well and actually talk to me since my soul had touched the land of the dead, the three of us having this special connection with each other.

'FAN MAIL?' The capital letters spelt out.

"Yeah." I leaned up against the counter. "How's Jonathon? Is he here in the kitchen too?"

'HE IS FINE.' The letters formed. 'HE IS IN THE KITCHEN TOO.' I looked down, sadness clear on my face.

"I wish I could see you guys face to face again. Not just in my dreams, but for real while I'm awake." The letters didn't move for a long period of time as I waited for a response from them, though nothing had happened, bringing me to sigh as I began to walk towards the kitchen chair again.

"Turn around." Scott's voice said from behind me. I spun around quickly, seeing Scott and Jonathon standing side by side on the other side of the kitchen.
