A deep sleep wouldn't welcome itself to me due to the fact that I was still a bit shaken up from the bathtub incident, so when Josh walked into the bedroom and sat at the corner of the bed it roused me out of the catnap. I slowly opened my eyes, his back facing me while slumping slightly forward and holding his head in his hand.

"Hey." I said in a soft voice and sat up, bringing Josh to turn around.

"Hey. How are you feeling?"

"Okay I guess." I shrugged, inching over to Josh and sat next to him. When I looked further into his eyes I instantly noticed that something was off about him, as if he were shaken up about something. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah." Josh lied and stood up, though not before I saw a glimpse of his back when his shirt slightly rose up, seeing a nasty bruise forming.

"What happened?" I gasped, standing up and lifting his shirt. The blonde didn't bother pulling away, and when he shrugged off his shirt and threw it on the bed I was able to see his entire back, my hands flying up to my mouth as my eyes widened. From Josh's shoulder blades to the arch of his back stretched a developing enormous bruise, patches of bluish purple clearly being visible. "Did you fall off your motorcycle?"

"You wouldn't believe me if I told you." Josh walked away from me but I instantly followed, closing the bedroom door and locking it before he could make his escape.

"What happened?" I demanded. Josh sighed and shrugged his shoulders, the very movement causing him pain.

"About fifteen minutes ago your perfect ghost attacked me." Josh's tone clearly indicated sarcasm.

"Scott?"

"Yeah." Josh nodded, his eyes hard as he stared into my own, which began to show fear. "Down in the basement he threw me across the room and threatened me. Scott said that if I ever tried to make you go against him again then he would kill me."

"He said that?" I whispered.

"He's pissed off that I figured out his plan about him killing you so you can turn into a ghost to be with him." Josh turned away and unlocked the bedroom door. "But let me guess? You still don't believe me." Josh turned the knob and opened the door but I quickly shut it again, my arms wrapping around him as I held him close.

"I believe you now."

"You do?" Josh seemed slightly shocked, though relieved.

"That bruise didn't just appear out of nowhere, and if Scott is willing to hurt you like that then he's willing to do anything. We have to do something."

"But what can we do?"

"I don't know." I sighed, letting go of him as our eyes locked. "If he's linked to me now then I need to leave so that he'll follow and be away from you and the kids."

"There's no way in hell I'm leaving you alone with him." Josh argued.

"So you figured it out?" Scott suddenly came walking through the closed door and ventured further into the bedroom. "You believe him? Well I guess the cat's out of the bag now. I've been doing some thinking and realized that you aren't the only one I want." Amusement was clear on Scott's expression and tone as he smiled evilly. "I want my daughter back too." He then suddenly vanished out of thin air, a new kind of fear clouding my eyes.

"Abigail!" I shouted. Josh swung open the door and sprinted out of the room as I followed, the two of us hurrying down the flights of stairs where we finally ended up in the living room, only to find a gruesome scene waiting for us. The two bodyguards laid face down in a pool of their own blood, both of their throats slit. Josh and I then looked up, the two of us seeing Abigail huddled in a corner and trembling as Jonathon guarded her from Scott, who was standing in the kitchen with large knives dancing around his body.

"Don't you DARE hurt Ashley or my daughter!" Josh shouted.

"She isn't YOUR daughter!" Scott snarled before flicking his finger towards me, hurling a knife my way. I screamed and took a few steps back, the knife flying right for my heart, but at the last moment Josh intervened and pushed me out of the way, the knife embedding deep into his side.

"Josh!" I gasped as he fell to the ground in pain. Tears stun my eyes as they focused over towards Scott. "If you actually loved me then you wouldn't be doing this! How could you even think of harming your own daughter?" I shouted, anger beginning to consume me.

"Jealousy makes us do crazy things." Scott growled before sending another knife flying through the air, only this time it was directed towards Abigail.

"NO!" I screamed, watching in horror as Jonathon swiftly lifted up his arm and stopped the knife right before it found its home in Abigail, the knife falling to the ground.

"I'm not going to let you hurt my family!" Jonathon ran forward with blinding speed and crossed the room, the toddler ending up right in front of Scott. After placing his hands up to Scott's stomach a bright light began to consume the two ghosts, Scott's screams filling the house as well as the burning white light. I covered my eyes because they had begun to water, and only seconds later the entire house began to shake. What was going on? What was Jonathon doing to Scott? Even though my eyes were closed I knew that the two were gone since the house suddenly stopped shaking, this being confirmed when I opened my eyes.

"Where did they go?" I asked, looking around the room but couldn't find any sign of them.

"Are they really gone?" Abigail questioned while slowly standing to her feet.

"I think they are." Confusion was clear in my tone; however my expression quickly switched to one of panic when hearing Josh's painful groans, Abigail rushing over to her father as we both knelt down next to him.

"Where is he?" Josh forced out, gripping the bloodied knife and pulling it out from his side as a pool of blood formed around him.

"Both him and Jonathon are gone." I stood to my feet and ran across the room to grab the phone, calling 911.
