The house seemed too quiet and out of place since Josh had left an hour ago and never came back, and every time I would text him to see where he was he wouldn't answer, frustration forming inside of me as I threw my phone on the bed before collapsing against the actual bedding. Arianna and Jacob were now both finally asleep, though soon Grayson would be waking up from his nap so I couldn't even take one for myself. With a sigh I sat up and saw Scott on the other side of the bedroom looking out the window where he watched the ocean's calm waves. After getting to my feet I joined him, the two of us alone since I convinced the bodyguards that Scott wasn't a threat. Abigail and Jonathon were currently downstairs watching Journey to the Center of the Earth on the large television.

"I don't want to cause you or Josh any trouble..." Scott lied as he looked over towards me. "If you want me to leave then I will."

"You don't have to go." I shook my head, though my attention was locked on the waves. "I know you didn't try to kill me. What would be the point of you helping me come back to life at the hospital if you planned on just killing me?"

"Exactly." Scott responded coolly. "Josh said something about me being jealous, but I'm not. If I was jealous then I would just leave instead of watching the two of you be together. I think he's the one who is jealous."

"He shouldn't be." I sighed. "Everything will work out. I'm sure of it."

"How can you be so sure though?"

"I have hope." I shrugged, to which Scott chuckled.

"Hope; it is the only thing stronger than fear."

"You're really quoting The Hunger Games?" I laughed.

"Yup." Scott smiled and turned away, the young man walking out of the room. "You're tired. Go ahead and sleep. I'll wake you when Grayson wakes up."

"Thank you." I crawled into bed and checked my phone one last time to see if Josh responded, but he hadn't, another sigh escaping from me as I slipped underneath the blankets and closed my eyes. Scott left the room with a look of disappointment on his face, knowing it was far too soon to try another attack.

Josh's POV

After storming out of the house and getting on my motorcycle I rode around the streets for a long period of time while being lost in thought, wondering what actions I was going to take regarding the situation I was in. It was clear that Scott had to leave, but how? How could I possibly make a ghost go away? And if Ashley was truly the anchor that kept Scott tied to here, what would happen if she didn't want him to leave? Would I be able to make Scott leave myself? But how? These questions were playing in my mind on a constant loop...

I rode around the island for about twenty minutes until I found myself in the driveway at the small library, deciding to leave my motorcycle in one of the available parking spaces and walked inside the building. The outside seemed small, but it was actually a good size on the inside, my attention instantly falling to the laptops which were currently unoccupied. I walked over to the one on the far corner and sat down in one of the chairs before logging on by using my library card's ten digit number and four letter pin code, deciding to go onto the internet and do some research on ghosts.

Everything that I was reading on the internet was absolutely useless, my frustration tempting me to bash my head along the side of the table. How could there not be any useful information on the internet? Surely there had to be something... I've been gone from the house far too long however and needed to get back. Once I logged off the laptop and walked out of the library I checked my cellphone, which was currently on silent, and saw that Ashley had left me five text messages wondering where I was.

"Shit..." I cursed, replying back that I would be home shortly, though since she had fallen asleep then she wouldn't see my message until later. I then hurried home while riding my motorcycle, going at least twenty miles over the speed limit.

I returned home sooner than I thought I was going to and burst through the front door, my attention falling to Abigail and Jonathon who were still watching the movie. Since there was no reply from Ashley I hurried up the stairs and to our room, not knowing she was sleeping, but found her resting on our bed. When I saw her chest rising and falling peacefully I sighed in relief, though once again Scott was nowhere to be found. Worried, I left the room and searched the house for him, though I couldn't find the ghost.

"Everything okay?" Abigail asked me when I came back into the living room.

"Yeah." I nodded. "I just need to go down to the basement real quick." I remembered Scott mentioning something about being in the basement when I was calling out for help, so when I walked to the other end of the house and opened the basement door, I wasn't surprised to see Scott standing at the bottom of the stairs with the light on.

"We need to talk." Scott said.

"We do." I agreed, walking down the stairs. The door at the top of the stairs shut behind me on its own, and when I turned around startled, I was suddenly lifted up in the air and thrown across the basement. I hit the ground with my back, wincing as pain shot all throughout my body.

"I'm only going to warn you one time, so you better listen." Scott growled. "If you hadn't acted as a father role to my daughter Abigail then I would just kill you right here and now, but since that isn't the case then I'll just give you a warning." Scott walked closer and knelt down next to me, my eyes glaring up at him. "If you ever try to make Ashley go against me again then I swear to God I will kill you." Scott stood up to his feet and casually walked up the stairs, leaving me alone as his words sank in.
