Return of the Storm

Your fractioned affection
'round my ankles bare
Flashes of days past
Dripping with despair

Isn't time meant to heal
Is distance not good
Why can't I forget you
When I know I should

Your noose is clever
A knot so sly
It tightens when I forget
Loosens as I feel myself die

Am I so weak
To suffer this tether
You have my soul
Though it's no treasure

You were my storm
Sweeping, floating
You soaked me with hope
And you left me choking

Many mountains
Lay 'Neath my feet
Why won't you surrender
How long must I bleed
