Steven felt super embarrassed after what happened with Cactus Steven. He couldn't bare to face the gems right now. He needed to get out. Escape for a while. The air in the temple was suffocating
Pearl interrupted his train of thought. "Is there anything you need to talk about?"
With the horrible display, Steven could only say one thing. "..........I think I've said enough."
With the anxiety getting worse, he decided to head to the bathroom and clean up his cactus wounds. He pulled out all the needles and washed away the blood. He then paused to look at himself in the mirror. All he saw was a broken child with a dead look in his eyes
Steven decided he needs to get away. He doesn't know where, he just has to get out of there
He walks back in the living room to confront the gems one final time before he heads out. "Guys, I'm sorry about all this. I need to leave and clear my head for a bit. I'll be back in a few hours."
The gems could say nothing but nod in agreement. All three of them gave their boy a big hug before he walked out the door. Or what used to be the door
Steven started up his car and put on his dad's old cassette tapes. He made his way to the outskirts of town. As the car was heading in the direction of the forest, a million thoughts were racing through Steven's mind
He couldn't help but think of all the horrible things he's done and how worthless he felt. All his friends left him and moved on to better things. Nobody needed him anymore. He felt so isolated and somewhat used
At this point he started to break down. His vision was blurry from the tears in his eyes. It became harder for him to keep his eyes on the road. Suddenly everything was moving in slow-motion
The next thing he saw when he looked up was him in the wrong lane and a car heading straight towards him. Steven tried to react fast but he swerved the wrong way and collided with the other vehicle
That person was fine. A few bruises and lost the front bumper but that's it. Steven however, took the brunt of the accident. With the angle he was at, the car was sent flying in the air and flipped twice. In those few moments of being airborne, time had seemed to slow down and Steven's life flashed before his eyes. He thought about the gems and how they would react. They'll probably lecture him about paying more attention while driving
There was a strange sense of peace. Almost like Steven felt like he was going to die. His entire body was being jerked around with broken glass flying everywhere. The airbag had been set off and hit him directly in the face
The car finally landed upside down on the other side of the road. Steven's arms were dangling in the air as he could barely move. His face had all sorts of scrapes and bruises on it. He was covered in blood
His vision was blurring out and he was losing blood by the second. The last thing he remembers is someone running towards him. The person he hit. It was Lars
