Insomnia

Some of them didn't get very much sleep that night. Greg managed to get a few hours in but it wasn't enough. He was very restless and couldn't stop thinking about his poor son

Amethyst was able to sleep just fine even though she was just as worried as the others. She kept hoping that Steven will wake up any moment now

Pearl on the other hand, was going a little insane. She spent all night cleaning the house from top to bottom. The floor was so clean you could eat food off it. You can see your reflection in some of the polished glass

Amethyst walked in and nearly fell due to how slippery the floor was. "Careful Amethyst, I just waxed." Pearl persistently mopped the floor

"Pearl what are you doing? This is nuts." Amethyst carefully walked towards her

"I want to make sure the house is clean when Steven comes home. Bismuth is coming later to fix the hole in the wall." Pearl started heading towards Steven's bedroom. Amethyst followed closely behind 

"Steven won't be coming back for a while." Pearl turned around with tears in her eyes

"You think I don't know that?! I'm trying to stay strong but I just can't. I don't know what to do with myself. I just wish my baby was okay." She sat down on Steven's bed and cried into her hands

Amethyst sat beside her and pulled her in closer. "It's gonna be alright P. We're all a bit lost right now but we have each other to get us through. We can do it. For Steven." She put out her hand for a fist bump

Pearl finished off the fist bump. "For Steven." She pulled her into a tight hug. "I think I'll go to the hospital for a while and give Greg a break."

Pearl was about to walk away when Amethyst reached out and grabbed her hand. Pearl turned her head and made eye contact. "Be careful. I..love you." Pearl's eyes glistened. She blushed and smiled at her

"I love you too." Amethyst slowly released her grip and their fingers glided across each other

Back at the hospital, Greg was found right beside the bed. His eyes had small dark circles around them from lack of sleep. Pearl walked over and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Go get some rest Greg. I can watch him. I'll let you know if anything happens." Greg stood up and gave her a hug

Once he left, Pearl sat in the exact same spot and held Steven's hand. "Hi Steven, it's Pearl. I'm sorry for all the pain you've been feeling. But I know you can fight this. You're so strong and brave and you've never given up on anything. Don't start now. Don't give up on yourself. Because we will never give up on you. Please wake up. Come back to me." 

Pearl began to cry as she stroked Steven's arm. Suddenly it was as if he heard her, as a miracle happened. His hand started to twitch a little bit

Pearl gasped and quickly sat back up. Her eyes lit up with stars and she began laughing and crying from pure joy. She layed her head on the boy's chest. "Oh Steven!" She then quickly pulled out her phone

"Amethyst! Garnet! Come to the hospital quick! Something amazing has happened!"
