Unexpected Love

Chapter 26

Elizabeth's POV
After Alec had healed my wound I decided to shower to just freshen up as he gathered everyone together

Sighing as I stepped out my shower I wrapped a towel around myself stepping out my bathroom as I walked to my closet pulling out an izzy approved outfit

Just as I was about to put them on my door slammed open. "El love we're waiting for y-" Alec stops as his eyes widened at my state

"Uh um I'm- you Uh" he stuttered rubbing his neck nervously as a deep blush painted his cheeks as he looked to the side

I walked over to him smirking. "You're too cute babe. I'll be out in a few" I said pecking his lips before lightly pushing him out the door as I quickly threw on the clothes and grabbed my stele and seraph blade tucking it into its designated spot

Walking out a chilly breeze passed by in the institute making me shiver slightly regretting my decisions of a black crop top and black high waisted short

"I'm starting to think you're doing this on purpose so I feel obligated to give you my jacket" I heard Alec's low voice whisper in my ear behind me as he draped his leather jacket over me

I was enveloped in warmth since his jacket was so large on me and I chuckled as I slipped my arms through the sleeves

"I think I might steal it" I whispered and he laughed before shrugging. "If you want to then sure" he said casually making my heart melt as he grabbed my hand clutching it tightly as we walked hand in hand to where everyone was tracking the monitors

Everything felt too good right now with me and Alec and I was cherishing this moment like it would disappear anytime because it seemed to happen a lot with us

"Shit I forgot my stele I need that thing with me twenty four seven I'll be back" I whispered to Alec and he nodded as I jogged back to my room grabbing my stele and also my whip

I was still getting used to it but Izzy and I have been training together and I think I'm starting to get the hang of it

Right as I was about to leave my phone starts ringing and without looking I pick it up

"Elizabeth I finally got your number it's so weird how long it took to find it" A familiar sounding person rings out

"Who is this?" I questioned walking towards the monitors and a chuckle is heard. "It's your father Elizabeth. " I froze standing halfway towards the monitors as Alec's eyes met mine

"What do you want?" I whispered remembering the feeling of fighting those guys when he had me. Remembering how he smiled at my pain

"Running away from your father isn't a good thing to do. Bad girls get punished Elizabeth remember that" he said

Alec was making his way towards me now a face full of concern in his eyes. "What's that supposed to mean?" I said keeping my voice steady

"I'd watch your back Elizabeth I want my daughter fighting beside me"

"Go to hell because that's never going to happen" I spit back

"Maybe but my men are currently watching a certain young boy who seems to be tied to one of the people you care about"

"What the hell are you talking about? Who?" I asked as Alec stood in front of me sending me a questioning look

"You care about Alexander Lightwood and I have my eyes on a younger Lightwood. What do you think would happen if your dearest Alexander and Isabelle knew you let their little brother die?" He laughed darkly

"I'm about to send you a location. Come alone and I'll give you the boy unharmed. I just want to talk"

"It's never just that for you" I mumbled and he laughed again. "You have an hour"

He hung up and soon a message with coordinates appeared and I sighed running my hands through my hair

"El what's wrong? Who were you talking to?" He questioned and I bit my lip. "No one! look I have to go for a couple of hours. I'll be back okay? Focus on finding Hodge right now" I said and he frowned grabbing my arm before I could leave

"Where are you going?" He asked and I shrugged. "I have to um meet Magnus somewhere. He needs help with some sort of spell and needs me to grab a few things from the shadow market. I'll be back soon" I said and he shook his head

"I'll come with you" he said and I shook my head. "I have to go alone right now Magnus doesn't want too many people going to shadow market as shadow hunters aren't exactly welcome there. Look I have to go trust me on this okay? I'll be back soon" I said sending him a forced smile before pecking his lips before leaving the institute in a hurry

I had to make sure Max was okay

Alec's POV
I stared at El in confusion as she ran off in a hurry. She seemed upset about something I just didn't know what

Whoever she was on the phone with supposedly Magnus and that made her anxious I could see it from where I was with Izzy at the monitors

Shaking off the feeling I ran a hand through my hair trusting El could do whatever she needed for Magnus

Except as I made my way to the monitors I saw Magnus there and I walked to him confused. "Hey El just ran out to grab you that stuff for your spell. What is it that you're doing exactly?" I asked him and he raises a brow

"Alexander I assure you I'm not doing any spells and didn't ask Elizabeth to grab anything for me" he said and I tilted my head

"But she said she was- " I cut myself off running out the institute trying to see her anywhere

Why'd she lie? And where was she going?

I was going to find her.
