It was quiet as you made your way into the Council Room, the only sound was the hushed chatter of a few masters as they quietly spoke to one another under their breath and approached their seats. You were seated next to Obi-Wan and had been placed on the Council shortly after he had, the two of you had always been close even before the Clone Wars. Being on the Council wasn't exactly what one would consider fun, the long meetings and the never ending political chatter mainly between Master Windu and Master Yoda wasn't your cup of tea, but nevertheless it was a great honor to sit on the Council.

Obi-Wan walked in a few paces behind you, seeing his brown cloak billowing out behind him as you arrived at your seat in front of the window overlooking the bustling city on Coruscant. Master Windu and Master Yoda were the last masters to enter the room, the door closing behind them as every master in the room, including you, stood in front of their seat and waited for the meeting to start before sitting down. You glanced over at Obi-Wan a few feet away to your left, seeing his hands clasped behind his back as his sky blue eyes scanned over the room before catching your gaze. You offered him a small smile, a blush faintly rising to your cheeks at him catching you staring. He smiled softly in return with a nod of his head, Master Windu speaking up before either of you could do anything else. "Thank you all for coming, you may be seated." He announced before sitting in his seat, Yoda not far behind and everyone else bowing slightly before taking their seats as well. You moved your cloak aside before sitting down, adjusting the material beside your feet before you crossed your legs.

You saw Obi-Wan move to do the same and lean back in his chair to get comfortable, swinging a leg over his other one and resting his ankle on his thigh, showing off his maroon boots like the drama queen he was. "As you all know, Chancellor Palpatine has advocated that Anakin Skywalker take the place of Even Piell." Mace Windu began as he glanced over to the empty chair to your right, you doing the same before seeing Obi-Wan adjust in his seat at the mention of his padawan. "Bring in young Skywalker, we will." Yoda continued for Mace Windu, waving his hand towards the door to reveal Anakin waiting patiently on the other side, hands hidden by his long sleeves as he clasped his hands in front of him. He made his way to the middle of the room and the door shut behind him, making eye contact with Obi-Wan for a split second and sending him a discreet nod. Obi-Wan nodded back slightly and Anakin moved to glance at you, offering him a small smile as you rested your hands on the arms of the chair.

"Masters." Anakin greeted the group, eyes glancing around at everyone in their chairs around him as he shifted in his spot, you could tell he was nervous and yet very excited to be put on the Council as a replacement. "Anakin. Chancellor Palpatine has named you to be the replacement for Even Piell, as you know." Mace Windu spoke up as Anakin nodded, your eyes watching the anxious padawan intently. "The Council has come to a decision regarding the Chancellor's recommendation. You will sit on the Council in replacement for Master Piell, but we do not grant you the rank of Master." Anakin's face bore a smile but it quickly faded away and was replaced with shock at what Windu had said. Your own eyes widened in lieu of what he said as well, shifting in your seat as you stared dumbfounded at Mace Windu across the room. "What?" Anakin stumbled out as he blinked a few times as if he hadn't heard him right, your eyebrows furrowing as Obi-Wan shifted uncomfortably in his chair out of the corner of your eye.

"Master Windu, if Anakin is to sit on the Council, he deserves the rank of-" You had started to come to Anakin's aid, but Mace cut you off before you could get very far. "Master L/N, the Council has made it's decision." He scolded, your confusion quickly turning to anger at how unfairly Anakin was being treated. It was insulting, you knew how Anakin longed to be a Master and this was just straight up embarrassing. "Yes, but I am on the Council, and I do not remember agreeing to such an outrageous decision." Your mouth spoke a million miles a minute as your eyes burned into Mace Windu's, not backing down even when he stared you down. You could feel Obi-Wan's eyes burn into the side of your face but you didn't pull your gaze from Mace's, knowing Obi-Wan was probably screaming internally at how you were mouthing off to the Council.
