CHAPTER THIRTEEN

Tatum ran a hand through her blue hair as she sat on Jax's couch. She was waiting for him to speak, he said they had stuff to talk about when he called her, but since she arrived back at his house he had yet to open his mouth. Tatum could tell whatever he wanted to talk about was making him tense though by the way his jaw was clenched and the amount of cigarettes he had smoked. Her mind was wandering to the worst case scenario as they sat there in silence.

"Jax." Tatum said as she placed her hand on his arm. "What is it?" She asked while looking into his blue eyes. Tatum could see the conflict in them as he looked into her eyes. It made her heart ache to see him like this, and she couldn't help but wonder if Tara's visit last night was the reason for it.

Jax ran a hand through his hair and let out a sigh. "Santo Padre charter is comin' down." He said watching as Tatum's face went blank. Clay had brought a business proposal to the table from Santo Padre, and it was too good to be voted down even Jax knew that.

The Mayans and SAMCRO allies now and it had been a long, sometimes bloody road to get where they were now, and even though they were allies, Jax needed to know where Tatum's loyalty was. Jax always felt like Tatum had picked the Mayans over SAMCRO once she moved to Santo Padre and started hooking up with Angel Reyes.

A sea of emotions quickly took over Tatum's body. She wasn't ready to face Angel yet, and she certainly wasn't ready to face him in Charming. "When?" Her voice giving no hint of all of the emotions swimming around inside of her.

"They'll be here day after tomorrow." He answered while lighting up another cigarette. "You gonna stand by my side when they pull into TM?" Jax needed to know. He hadn't come right out and asked Tatum to be his old lady, but he wanted her by his side. The SAMCRO VP wanted to show Angel Reyes that Tatum James was his, and always had been.

"What?" Tatum asked confused by Jax's question. "What the fuck are you talking about, Jax?" She could feel anger taking control over her emotions. Is this why he wanted her here? Did he want to have a pissing contest with Angel? Was she just some prize to be won from Angel? "Why would I stand by your side? I'm not your old lady." She said while getting up from the couch and placing her hands on her hips.

Jax stood up from the couch and moved closer to Tatum. "You're SAMCRO's Princess." He said while twirling a piece of blue hair around his finger. "Doesn't your loyalty lie with SAMCRO?" Jax asked as his eyes flickered down towards Tatum's pursed lips. Those lips could crush him if she'd just let them, and Jax Teller wanted to be crushed by Tatum.

"My loyalty?" Tatum scoffed. She couldn't believe the words coming out of Jax's mouth. She knew he had been mad when she first told him about Angel, but he never questioned her loyalty. Tatum didn't understand where all of this was suddenly coming from. "What the fuck is wrong with you?" She hissed while smacking his hand away. "Are you feeling some type of way because Angel is coming here? You can't stand that I'm fucking him and not you?" Tatum's voice was harsh and she could feel her face getting hot with anger. The fights between Tatum and Jax were far and few,  but when the two best friends did fight things got nasty quick.

Jax let out a sarcastic laugh. "I hear you're not the only one fuckin' him, darlin'."

A loud slap echoed off the walls as Tatum's hand connected with Jax's cheek. "Fuck you, Jackson Teller." Tatum spat before walking out of the house, leaving behind a red hand print on a stunned Jax Teller's face.

"Another one." Tatum demanded once the clear liquid burned its way down her throat. The bartender raised an eyebrow at her but complied and poured her another shot of vodka. After her fight with Jax, she found herself at some dive bar in Oakland. She knew if she went to one in Charming that someone would immediately call SAMCRO to get her, and she didn't want that.

"What are you doin' here, chica?"

Tatum rolled her eyes at the unmistakable voice of Marcus Alvarez. The blue haired woman had thought she'd be safe to drink uninterrupted in Oakland, but she should of known better. She should of known The Mayan president would get a call once she stepped foot in the bar. "I'm trying to drink, Marcus. Why else would I come to a bar?" She asked with sarcasm dripping from every word.

Marcus ignored her sarcasm as he reached over and grabbed the shot glass away from her. "I think you've had enough, chica." His tone firm as he eyed the bartender with cold eyes.

"You here to take me back to Charming?" Tatum asked with a sigh.

"Do you want me to mija?"

"No." Tatum shook her head. Charming was the last place she wanted to be.

Marcus nodded his head. "You can stay with me for the night." Marcus Alvarez had grown close to Tatum James over the years, and he felt a fatherly instinct to protect the young woman.

"gracias, Marcus."

The Mayan president nodded and helped Tatum off of the splintered bar stool. "De nada pájaro azul."
