STEPHEN'S POV

Since I've been home from England and I've kept in regular contact with both Douglas and Ruby, myself and Ruby have been dating for almost a year, and three days after her birthday (19th February) I proposed to her, which she agreed to and now five months later we are getting married today!. I am excited about today but I'm also worried that Ruby might not show up at all - after the tons of planning that has went into our wedding today. My Mum is of course a bit emotional that I'm getting married, and obviously I'm my Mum and Dad's only child so emotions are running high today for everyone. Because I'm not long out of the Air Force, I will be wearing my uniform instead of a traditional suit and tie attire. Today is of course about myself and Ruby declaring our love in front of our family and friends... and if there is some sort of "God" up there then, them too. After the main event was over, myself and Ruby have to fill out our marriage certificate which looks like this layout:

PROVINCE OF ONTARIO
Marriage Certificate

NAME OF BRIDEGROOM: WHIBLEY, STEPHEN-PAUL THOMAS
PLACE OF BIRTH: CANADA
NAME OF BRIDE: STANHOPE, RUBY LOUISE
DATE OF MARRIAGE: JUL. 31, 1941
PLACE OF MARRIAGE: TORONTO, AJAX CO.
DATE OF REGISTRATION: THURSDAY JULY 31 1941.

After filling out our marriage certificate, it is now time for our wedding reception where I've got a little surprise for Ruby, I'm going to go up on the little stage we have set up and sing to her the song that I've written recently, so I'm sure she'll enjoy that. And, I'll probably get my Dad to play his guitar along with me (although, who brings their instruments to a wedding? Excluding the artist you've picked out for the reception 🤷🏻‍♂️). After announcing to everyone that I'm going to sing for Ruby, I go over to where my Mum and Dad are and ask my Dad if he's got his guitar with him, which he has after me yelling the question so he can hear me, due to both his hearing loss and the loud commotion that's happening at this moment. After singing to Ruby and of course everyone else in the room, the rest of the night went great and we didn't get home until the wee hours of the morning. So, until our next step in our marriage journey I'll see you all soon.

I'll take an ocean in my stride
Steal the stars and hitch a ride
To your door
And time builds a bridge through our bloodlines
From the roots, we'll watch love rise
Heaven knows how it grows

Now that I've found you
Now that I've found you
I won't let go
Let my love surround you
Now that I've found you
I can lay down with my ghost

Now that I've found you, don't go
Don't go

I'll be the branch that breaks your fall
If you need me, make the call
I'll be there
And I know it's late for lullabies
But the future's yours and mine
Now and for evermore

Now that I've found you
Now that I've found you
I won't let go
Let my love surround you
Now that I've found you
I can lay down with my ghost

(Ooh-ooh-ooh)
Now that I've found you, don't go
Don't go
(Ooh-ooh-ooh)

Now that I've found you
Now that I've found you
I won't let go
Let my love surround you (Ooh-ooh-ooh)
Now that I've found you
I can lay down with my ghost

(Ooh-ooh-ooh)
Now that I've found you, don't go
