Ohmigod, I'm still alive, I thought with relief and staggered out of Roseanne's car, which had just come to a stop. We had been pelting down the freeway for a good two hours, which is why everything inside me was now spinning and my stomach had certainly moved up several feet.
Shit. Don't puke, Lani. Don't puke.
"Alright, welcome to your temporary home!", Roseanne snapped me out of my malaise, threw her arms up and then pointed to a huge mansion that I only recognized in a blur so far, but holy shit!
"H-here you live?" Stunned, I looked at her.
"Yep. Modest, but cozy." Roseanne smiled contentedly, then ran to the trunk to get my luggage out.
Modest?!
This domicile resembled a goddamn maze!!!
And I had only seen the front yard so far.
"Are you coming?", Roseanne asked me amusedly after a while, and I only now noticed that I was still standing in front of the front door with my mouth wide open.
"Eh, yeah, sure." Embarrassed, I slipped through the classily designed entrance and not a second later was standing in the hallway-or rather, the reception hall.
Damn, were those ceilings high.
"So, this is the entryway," my host mom informed me with a smile, then gestured to a professionally designed coat rack, "This is where you'll find the kids' outdoor clothing, their shoes, and also the car keys in case you ever need to cart the little ones around."
Oh, right. Well,-
"Although that's probably going to be a rare occurrence, since that's also Griffin's responsibility," Roseanne quickly added, and I can't tell you how grateful I was for that interjection, because-,
