I stood in the common room as I gathered my books. I needed to go to breakfast before it became too late.

Just as I finished packing I heard a door click open and looked up to see James. He opened his mouth to say something but closed it immediately after. His eyes widened and he blushed.

I nearly laughed. He does remember. I smirked at him and left the common room. It's adorable to see him so flustered.

I made it to the Great Hall and sat down next to Narcissa. Lucius ams Severus sat across from us but there was no sign of Regulus. He must be asleep.

I recalled the duel between James and Severus and gave the latter a hard stare. He noticed and grumbled something before explaining.

"It was the bloodtraiters fault. Not mine." He grumbled angrily. I clenched my jaw at the nickname but quickly ignored it.

"That does not mean that you can retaliate. Especially not with a full out duel."

"Wait, a duel?" Narcissa asked. "Lucius, Severus!" She scolded them quietly as to not draw attention, "you know what happened the last time either of you were in a duel. Especially with them!"

"Look it won't happen again." Lucius tried to defend himself.

"You're right. It won't. Because if it does I will do far worse damage than what you could have done in the duel."

"Nicely done Cissy." I complimented. Narcissa has always been the best at putting people in their places.

Narcissa smiled and flicked her hair over her shoulder in a dramatic style. This caused us both to laugh. The boys just grumbled on about how unfair girls are but we ignored them.

Transfiguration was the same as always. I sat in the middle of the class with Narcissa. The Marauders were opposite us.

I had noticed throughout the day that James has been avoiding me. I am not sure as to why though. Either he's really embarrassed, more so than I thought, or he regrets it.

Hopefully it's only the former.

I made eye contact with Sirius from the opposite side of the class. I raised my eyebrows in question as to why James was avoiding me but he seemed just as confused and shrugged. James however, was writing down notes. It baffled both me and Sirius. He really was trying hard to avoid eye contact with me.

It was almost hilarious. I smirked to myself and looked away. I needed to make my own notes anyway.

A few minutes later Narcissa nudged me. I glanced up from my parchment to look at her. She meant forward slightly so she could whisper, "What's up with you and Potter?"

I shrugged. "No idea. He was drunk last night, I think he's embarrassed about the way he acted." I smirked a little.

Narcissa chuckled quietly, "mmm maybe." She turned back to her work when McGonagall walked past, though she had no need to as the professor in question was far too baffled by James taking notes in class.

I stumbled into the common room and fell onto the soft couch. I was ready to sleep for a 1000 years but I needed to complete homework.

I sighed and sat up. The parchment and ink were practically mocking me, calling for me to attempt an essay.

Picking up my quill I began my essay.

A couple minutes later, James rushed into the common room. I had a suspicious feeling that he was hoping to arrive before I did.

"Afternoon James." I greeted with a smirk while my taking my eyes off my essay.

"A...afternoon Alivia." He gulped.

Deciding to torture him more I stood up and walked over to him. I smirked as I watched him blush and look away.

"What's the matter James?" I asked innocently. This was all too fun.

James muttered something under his breathe and before I could ask what he said he gently grabbed my face and before I knew it his lips were on mine and we were kissing again. Being so close to him, I could smell the scent of oak, expensive cologne, and firewood. It was a glorious mixture of smells and I appreciated the way it filled both my lungs and my soul. It was a comforting scent and combined with the feeling of his lips on mine the moment was almost euphoric.

I quickly responded to the kiss and manoeuvred my arms around his neck. One of his hands moved down to my waist as we progressed.

He finally pulled back from the kiss and pressed his forehead to mine.

"I've been waiting to do that for a while now." He whispered.

My chest swelled at the words. "Is that so?" I asked with a smirk as I looked up at him. He grinned before pulling me forward for another kiss. This one was short and sweet but enjoyable all the same.

James pulled away and stepped back slightly. He held my hands in his and looks me in the eyes.

"Alivia. I really like you. A lot. You're on my mind every second of the day and it is nearly overwhelming with how much your presence just affects me. So I guess what I'm trying to say is, will you be my girlfriend?" James asked.

I smiled. I cannot believe this. "I'd love that James." I giggled.

I stoped smiling when I realised that my parents would kill me if they found out about this. So would every other Death Eater in this school.

James must have noticed my change of mood because he asked me what was wrong.

"James." I whispered out. "My parents. They'll disown me, and they'll probably come after you too. I know I was planning on leaving anyway but at least then it'll be quieter and only in our home." I started to hyperventilate as I panicked. I was more worried about James though. My parents and the Death Eaters would surely target the two of us if we are together and I get disowned.

"Hey, hey, Alivia." James grabbed my shoulders lightly, "you'll be okay. We'll be okay. How about we keep the relationship secret for now? Then your parents won't find out. After Hogwarts they aren't going to find out then either because we won't be around anyone who could tell them."

My heart swelled at the thought that James wanted us to last. He believes we'll be together even after Hogwarts and that makes me so unbelievably happy.

"Thank you so much James." I whispered. "Just until I'm rid of them. Of my parents. After Hogwarts I'm going to leave, and they can't do anything about it because I'll be of age." I spoke with determination.

James grinned and wrapped his arms around my waist. I put my head on his chest and we stood there for a while.

Some may call it the calm before the storm.

While I was happy and content, I also had a feeling that it was going to get so much worse after Hogwarts.

I didn't want to accept that reality so soon, so I basked in the calmness that was now in a hope that I could savour these moments before the storm comes.
