I woke up to an empty bed. I looked around but Jacob wasn't around so I decided to brush my teeth and my hair and go talk to Eric. Once I left the room I wandered around a little hoping to run into someone. I found a huge oak door that looked heavy as hell and decided to knock on it. When I heard Eric's voice telling me to come in I grinned in accomplishment as I pulled open the door surprised at how easy it was.

"Hello, Harper. Did you sleep well?" Alpha Eric set down his pen

I nodded and walked in closing the door behind me

"Please, sit." He gestured to a comfortable looking chair; "so what brings you?"

"I want to know how your pack is going to deal with a halfling. Don't get me wrong I am grateful for the rescue but I don't want to keep subjecting myself to bullying and torture." I admired the designs that were carved into the wood of the room; Eric looked so at home here

"Can I ask if you know why we took you from them?" Eric asked

"I'm Jacob's mate." I spoke with confidence

"Well, yes. But that isn't the only reason. He didn't realize that right away. Your scent was too muffled by theirs. I can smell that he's taken care of that." Eric chuckled and shook his head; "should have heard the spew of curses running through his rampant mind when he smelled all of them on you."

"So what was the reason then?" I pressed for more

"We don't take cruelty well. No other being should be hurt to satisfy another's morbid tastes..." Eric gave a deep growl that raised the hairs on my body

"Does the pack follow those morals?" I asked

He gave a curt nod

"So can I call my sisters? Tell them I'm alive?" I bit my lip as I asked wondering if I was asking too much

"Sisters? Of course not. Phones all yours. I'll give you a moment. It'll give me an excuse to get some fresh air." Eric gestured to the phone and as he passed me he laid a gentle hand on my shoulder; "let me know if you decide to become a member of the pack. Before you mate with Jacob preferably."

I nodded not even considering he'd want me marked.

Once Eric had left I dialed the number my sister had given long ago... Melody didn't move much so her number stayed the same.

"Who is this?" Melody grumbled through the phone

"Hey..." I whispered

"Harp?" Melody gasped; "did you finally make it out?"

I felt my tears start forming at her voice; "yes. I was rescued by the Nights pack. Their Alpha... He's so kind. They've fed me, bathed me, and have asked me to join." I hesitated telling her about Jacob

"Nonsense. You come here. I'll keep you safe. Bun is here..." Melody sounded slightly annoyed but then again Bun our sister Harmony was pretty annoying sometimes

"I... I don't want to go.... I like it here and... I found my mate..." I mumbled the last bit

"A werewolf? Did you learn nothing from her?" Melody bellowed

I whimpered slightly; "I did... I wanted to say no but I just can't... I couldn't. And now I don't want to. But I wanted you to know I was safe. I gotta go. I love you both..." I hung up the phone before I heard the response.

Standing up I left the room and wandered outside and smelled people training. So I walked behind the mansion and found a little spar session and all of the men were without shirts. Jacobi was amongst them and he was obviously teaching some younger wolves. He looked up and smiled at me.
