15 : Force

we caught our breathe.
changed our clothes.
i made you coffee.
i drank some tea.

i never asked why,
but you told me anyway.

i ordered the tea at the cafe because i like the way it looks.

i laughed a little as i sipped the warm water,
feeling it's heat,
enjoying it.

your smile quickly turned into a frown when you continued.

how did you know where i would be?

i replied with the truth.
i didn't.

you dwelt on that thought for a moment before saying

he was going to force me to marry him.

i put my tea down on the table

you didn't smoke before him, did you?

you looked at me, eyebrows pushed together slightly.

no, how did you know?

i looked at your mousy yet matured features carefully.
i looked for any hints as to what you were feeling.
i couldn't tell.

you just don't seem like the kind of girl to smoke.

she smiled.
i couldn't tell if she was sad or angry inside about everything that had happened.
it wasn't like the other day.
you were hurt,
helpless,
hopeless.
you knew exactly what you were feeling.
so i knew.

but now,
you don't.
so i don't.
