Chapter 47

Yuzu only whimpered a bit as she stared at the door
Th-this is dangerous...
"Yuzu? Are you okay?" Mei asked
"Wh-who are you?" Yuzu asked as she clenched the covers tightly
"It's me. Mei Aihara or...Mei Okogi since we're married now" Mei said
"M-married? Oh...so it it true" Yuzu said
I have a mate and I am a Queen! Aaaaah!
"U-uh...so uh...M-mei?" Yuzu asked
"Yes?" Mei asked
"D-did uh...we really have that?" Yuzu asked nervously
"Have what? Sex?" Mei asked. Yuzu's ears perked up as her face redden and covered her face. Mei's ears twitched as she heard noises behind the door
"Yuzu? Is everything okay?" Mei asked worriedly
"Y-yes! Everything is okay!" Yuzu said panicking for a moment
"Are you sure?" Mei asked
"Y-yes. I'm fine so d-don't worry..." Yuzu said and laughed nervously. She gulped and stared at the door before getting out of bed
M-maybe...I could get cl-closer...
Yuzu crawled up to the door and leaned against it
"Yuzu? You still there?" Mei asked
"Y-yes. Hehe sorry...I-I'm still nervous" Yuzu said
"It's okay. I understand...since I felt that before" Mei said
"Wh-what?" Yuzu asked
"The first time we met...I was nervous too" Mei said and looked through the door crack underneath. She slid her fingers through the door crack which made Yuzu jump. Yuzu saw her fingers and looked at her hand. She trembled a bit before slowly lowering her hand and touched her fingers but pulled her hand away quickly
"It's okay...don't be scared" Mei said as she leaned against the door. Yuzu only looked away and touched her fingers gently. She opened one eye and sighed in relief
N-nothing...has happened yet
Mei blushed and smiled feeling Yuzu's warmth. She closed her eyes and pinned her ears down
"Y-yuzu...is it okay if we...held hands?" Mei asked. Yuzu pulled her hand away quickly and pinned her ears down whimpering slightly
"I-I mean if you're okay with it. You don't have to if you don't want to..." Mei said. Yuzu's ears twitched and gulped
I-it's just holding h-hands right? That's N-nothing I but...I-I can't!
"I-I'm sorry...I can't..." Yuzu said as she trembled and whimpered
"It's okay. I'll wait until you're ready..." Mei said
Or when you're back...
Yuzu leaned against the door and sighed. She trembled a little then flinched as she felt Mei's fingers go through the crack underneath the door
"S-sorry if I scared you..." Mei said
"I-it's fine..." Yuzu said as she trembled a little. Mei sighed softly and stared at the ceiling
"Yuzu...are you afraid?" Mei asked. Yuzu's eyes widen and turned around
"Y-you...heard? My story?" Yuzu asked as she trembled a little
"...yes" Mei said
"S-so...you know what happened?" Yuzu asked
"Yes...and I'm sorry" Mei said. Yuzu clenched her fists tightly as she looked down
"...i-it was my fault" Yuzu said
"Yuzu..." Mei said
"...I wasn't strong enough...to save her...or do anything. I don't get why...I couldn't stand up for her and myself...i-it was scary. Her eyes...looking down on me...sh-she ruined my life..." Yuzu said as tears built up in her eyes and trembled. She gritted her teeth and stopped feeling Mei's fingers move slightly
"...I'm here for you, Yuzu. I know you've gone through so much pain...but please don't think like that. You aren't pathetic...you are strong" Mei said
"St-stop that...I'm no-"
"But you are strong. You're really brave and strong. You always want to protect the ones who need help...and are always kind to others" Mei said. Yuzu's eyes widen and looked down trembling slightly
"I know you're hurt because of the past but...you have to let go of the past. There is nothing you can do to change it. If you keep looking back at your past then you won't be able to move forward. You have to focus on the present...and your future. And besides....your grandmother would hate seeing you like this. She would probably want to see you happy...she protected you because she loves you and will always loves you" Mei said. Yuzu trembled as she held Mei's fingers slightly tightly but not too tight to hurt her
"Your grandmother must be proud to have a strong granddaughter like you. You really will make a great Queen someday..." Mei said as she smiled a little. Yuzu whimpered as she tried to keep her voice down and covered her mouth with her hand
Wh-why is my heart...b-beating so fast? It's beating...s-so much...wh-why? Why?!
"M-mei...is your h-heart...beating fast?" Yuzu asked
"It is...my heart only beats whenever I'm with you" Mei said. Yuzu blushed deeply and trembled a little as her tail began to wag rapidly
M-maybe...it won't be bad after all. Everything...is okay...
"Yuzu...do you think...we can hug each other?" Mei asked and Yuzu pulled her hand away
"Wait Yuzu...what if you closed your eyes?" Mei asked
"Wh-what?" Yuzu asked
"Keep your eyes closed and let me come to you" Mei said
"U-uhm...that? Uh...i-it's dangerous" Yuzu said
"I promise I won't hurt you okay?" Mei said. Yuzu only trembled and whimpered softly
"Wh-why do I have to keep my eyes closed? H-how about if you step in?" Yuzu asked. Mei trembled slightly and looked down
"A-are you okay with that?" Mei asked slightly nervous
"Y-yes" Yuzu said
"Okay..." Mei said and stood up. She grabbed the doorknob and twisted it before opening the door. Mei stepped inside the room with her eyes closed and looked away
Stay calm...stay calm...
"M-mei?" Yuzu asked. Mei opened one eye and Yuzu's eyes widen seeing her eye color

Flashback
"Hehehe...do you really think you could protect your granny? Hahaha! Can't you see you're a weak little puppy? You can't do anything you little Okogi!" Alyssa said. Yuzu was vomiting and coughed blood. She trembled while tears streamed down her face
'I-I want to get out! I need to escape!'
"Oh well..." Alyssa said before grabbing Yuzu and pinning her down to the ground. Yuzu was shaking uncontrollably and struggled to get out of the her grip
"L-let me go already!" Yuzu cried as she kept her eyes closed. Alyssa's ears perked up and turned around sensing something
'Seems like they're almost done...'
"I guess I have to go now. I've already completed my mission and now...it's time to give you a little gift to remember me by" Alyssa said as she placed her hand on her chest. Yuzu's eyes widen and cried in pain as a dark shadow entered inside her body. Her vision darkened and winced in pain
'I-it hurts...'
Yuzu closed her eyes and struggled to endure the pain inside her chest. Alyssa gigged before shifting into her werecat form and ran away
'That'll teach you for messing with my daughter...'
Yuzu groaned in pain as she sat up trembling slightly. She looked around panting heavily and gasped noticing blood on the ground. The small girl looked up and crawled to the dead body then jumped
"Gr-grandma...n-no...no...grandma...please..." Yuzu mumbled and trembled as tears built up in her eyes
"N-no no no no!" Yuzu cried and covered herself. She gritted her teeth and trembled
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" Yuzu shouted as her soul came out and soon flames surrounded the girl. Yuzu looked down trembling and noticed the blonde hair. She trembled as she felt someone in front of her and slowly lifted her head. Her eyes widen and stood up seeing her werewolf standing in front of her
"Gr-grandma...?" Yuzu asked. The werewolf leaned towards Yuzu and pressed her forehead against hers. Yuzu held her hands up and held the werewolf as she cried. The werewolf pinned her ears down and wrapped an arm around Yuzu
End of Flashback
"You're her!" Yuzu shouted as she tried using her flames. She trembled a little and growled furiously. Mei stepped back a little as she pinned her ears down
"Y-yuzu please...you have to trust me. I-I'm not her. It's me Mei. I love you! I'm your mate!" Mei said wanting to calm Yuzu down but Yuzu only growled
"What is going on?" Yongi asked
"D-dad! Get her away! Please! I don't want to see her!" Yuzu shouted
"Y-yuzu...no..." Mei said. Yongi walked up to Mei and patted her back
"We have to go" Yongi whispered. Mei only trembled as she saw Yuzu's expression
I...don't want to...leave her!
"Yuzu! Please listen!" Mei said as she pulled away from the King and ran up to her. Yuzu's eyes glowed as she raised her hand to attack until...a black shadow appeared between the two girls. Yuzu breathed heavily and noticed it was a werecat which only scared Yuzu even more
"AAAAAAAAAH! GET IT AWAY! GET IT AWAY! PAPA! MAMA! GET THAT MONSTER AWAY!" Yuzu cried loudly and started coughing struggling to breathe
"YUZU!" Yongi exclaimed and soon Ume passed him as she ran to her daughter. She hugged her tightly as her eyes glowed trying to save her. Mei trembled staring at the shadow and Yongi grabbed Mei dragging her out of the room. The shadow vanished and Yongi closed the door
"I'm sorry Mei. I know you want to help but-"
"I-I'm a monster..." Mei said as her voice cracked and teared up. Yongi looked at the young girl and stepped closer to her before wrapping an arm around her
"Don't say that, Mei. Everything will turn out okay. Yuzu just needs some time..." Yongi said and stroked her hair softly. Mei only cried on the King's chest and for some reason she felt a comforting warmth from him. She slowly calmed herself down before hugging him back

"Oooh! Butterfly!" Matsuri said and shifted into a fox before chasing after it. She jumped and tried biting it. She opened her mouth as she jumped and fell to the ground. The butterfly landed on Matsuri's nose and tried catching it with her mouth. The butterfly flew away and landed on a tree. Matsuri slowly approached the tree and stayed hidden until she pounced at the tree but got hit on the head by the tree
"O-ow..." Matsuri groaned as she shifted back to normal
"Hey...get up" Yami said and helped Matsuri up
"Thank you" Matsuri said and rubbed her head a bit
"Next time don't do that" Yami said
"I was trying to catch it" Matsuri said
"Yes but don't just go hitting yourself on trees" Yami said. Matsuri only turned around noticing the girls and trembled a little
"Hey Yami-chan who are they?" Matsuri asked
"Mitsuko and Harumi Taniguchi. Harumi is your mate and Mitsuko is her older sister" Yami said
"Ah...right. I forgot about them" Matsuri said and flinched as they walked close to her then hid behind Yami
"Matsuri..." Harumin said
"Hm?" Matsuri asked as she looked at her
"Can we talk for a moment?" Harumin asked
"No" Matsuri said and Yami held Matsuri with her shadow tentacle
"H-hey! Let me go!" Matsuri said as she squirmed
"No. Your mother said to get along with your mate. Now go and talk" Yami said
"She is going to rape me..." Matsuri said
"No she won't. If she does anything to you just call me and I'll show up okay?" Yami said before putting her down. Matsuri groaned as her ears twitched and shook her head
"Let's go Taniguchi" Matsuri said as she looked down and walked away
I'm going to die!
Harumin blushed a little before following Matsuri. She kept staring at her and gulped feeling her body heat up
It's difficult to stay calm...especially since her scent is driving me crazy. How are the others not affected by this? Maybe because I'm her mate and her scent affects me the most...
The shadow girl stayed behind which Mitsuko felt slightly uncomfortable
"Hey...you're a dark type right?" Mitsuko asked
"Yes..." Yami said
"How did you end up here?" Mitsuko asked
"I was in a fight back then...but Matsuri saved me. I asked her what she wanted in return and she told me to stay by her side. So now I'm her bodyguard and babysitter..." Yami said
"So you protect her and obey her?" Mitsuko asked
"Yes. I mean I owe her my life now" Yami said
"I remember helping someone...in the woods too. She was running away from home..." Mitsuko said
"Oh really? Who was it?" Yami asked
"Maruta...my first friend...and first love. She helped me unlock my soul when we first met...and grew closer...until the day she disappeared for good" Mitsuko said
"The missing princess..." Yami said. Mitsuko's ears perked up and turned to look at the shadow
"Princess?" Mitsuko asked
"A-ah wait...uhm...no" Yami said nervously

"Wait...Maruta is a princess? How did you know?" Mitsuko asked
"I-it's nothing" Yami said as she looked away and jumped seeing Mitsuko get close to her
"Alright! Maruta Kayo is part of the underworld Kingdom! Us dark types live underground and come out at night. She's the one who's been missing and the entire Kingdom is still searching" Yami said. Mitsuko looked at the girl and glared at her
"Hey...why are you always surrounded by shadows?" Mitsuko asked
"Duh! I'm a dark type" Yami said
"But dark types don't usually use their shadows during the day. It weakens them. So what's the point in using it? Unless...you're hiding something" Mitsuko said
"H-hiding? What would I be hiding?" Yami asked
"Something...or...identity" Mitsuko said. Yami jumped and looked at Mitsuko with a calm expression
