"Long story short, getting drunk and confessing your love to your best friend is a bad idea."

"Obviously it is," Greenland groaned, rubbing his temples. "Why would you ever think that would work?"

"America said it would!" Mexico whined. "Right, Ame?"

America hummed dismissively, staring into the distance.

"Well that's your problem," Greenland snorted. "You followed advice from America."

The two shared a laugh, Antarctica just making the motion of laughing, without making a sound. America just stayed silent.

The four were on there way to one of the cafes in the university library to get some lunch. They often went there during the middle of the day, or just whenever they were all free from classes. Sometimes "lunch" there ended up being at like 5 in the afternoon just because their classes didn't always add up. America was studying things like physics engineering and Mexico was studying psychology, while Greenland and Antarctica had pretty much the same schedule though because they were both studying environmental science.

Antarctica was walking alongside everyone with a slight limp and it took almost physical force to get Greenland to stop carrying him around everywhere bridal style. He never explained why he had the limp to the others, just brushing it off when they asked him.

America was fiddling with his gift in his hands. After every break, Antarctica would give all of his friends a special gift to welcome them back and remind them he was thinking about them. He would almost always get America something to fidget with to help with his ADHD, the gifts ranging from squishy rubber fruit to satisfying gel hourglasses. This time it was a Rubik's cube, which America couldn't wait to solve.

America always adored the gifts and had a shelf in his room filled with them - or at least filled with all the ones he didn't use on a daily basis.

So, like, four were there out of 5 million.

Mexico had been given some new paints for his guitar and Greenland got a book he had been dying to read but hadn't been able to get due to spending all his time doting on his boyfriend.

"You alright there, Meymey?" asked Mexico, using America's least favourite nickname to catch his attention. America just hummed again, keeping his eyes on the Rubik's cube in his hands.

"Hey," Greenland called to his distant friend, pulling him out of his trance with a pat on the back, making him jump. "Everything good in there?"

America blinked, processing the question for a good second.

"What?"

The other three sat in silence before America smiled and said, "Oh sorry, yea no, I just didn't take my meds this morning. I'll be fine - thanks for worrying though!"

Antarctica smiled happily and clapped his hands, Greenland smiling with him. Mexico still looked a little suspicious but decided not to question it as they had already reached their location.

"Oh, hello!!" a familiar voice called out to them.

The four turned to see Russia and Germany sitting at a table together, with Germany waving to them encouragingly. America blushed when he saw Russia, looking back down at his cube as a frown tugged at his lips.
