When I'm with you i forget that I'm not seventeen
I forget to hold the weight of the world
When I'm with you I can let it slip
Into our laughter
Into our smiles
I never understood why people look back with golden eyes
Seventeen is just an age, right?
But it's more than that
Seventeen is on the cusp
Bridging the gap between child and adult
It is a balance, acting older but knowing you're young
Acting younger but ready to grow
Seventeen is about learning to navigate
- the world, your emotions -
It is light yet it is heavy
It is learning to let go
You make me feel seventeen again
You remind me that even though the world is scary
And even though I'm afraid to grow old
There are still moments to be had
There is life in the small things
In this transition
The sky is changing above us
But we stay grounded in the sand
And like when we were seventeen
We are living a moment
And holding it close
And through your world
I'm learning to let go
