Lukas's POV
I heard Mia huff on the other side of the phone, knowing something was up with her. "I need you to come and get me." She almost whispered into her phone. "Please." She added as her voice turned into a sob.
Immediate panic rushed to my nerves as she sounded desperate. I was pissed at her for how she was treating Bells, but she'll always be my little sister, and I would never let anything bad happen to her. "Whoa, what's wrong. Why are you crying?" I changed my tone as I turned around, my gaze on Bella waiting for me at the table.
"I'm at Jason's. It's pouring outside and it's freaking cold. I can't walk home in this weather." She sounded lost, crying into her phone.
"What? Why are you there? Mia I swear-"
"Lukas now is not the time to lecture me, please..." She sighed. "I'll explain later." I shook my head, feeling bad for her, and bad for Bella as she made dinner and I now can't stay. I seriously debated what to do, whether or not to go get Mia, at the snap of her fingers, when she has almost cost me my relationship with the girl I loved most on this world. She's crying Lukas. She is your sister Lukas. This isn't negotiable Lukas.
I sighed into my phone. "Fine, stay put. I'll be there in ten minutes." At my words she let out a sigh of relief.
"Thanks, really." She muffled away her last sob at the thought I was going to be there soon.
"It's okay." I said before hanging up the phone, my feet dragging myself to the kitchen. Bella's gaze followed me as I approach her, her expression just as worried as I was.
"Is everything okay?" She pulled up her eyebrows. The plate of deliciously looking pasta in front of her.
"No, I'm so sorry." I shook my head, my phone still in my hand. "It's Mia, I need to go get her. She's at that loser's house."
"She's at Jason's? What would she be doing there?" She frowned her brows at the thought.
"I guess, I'm about to find out." I shook my head again. I felt like I was choosing Mia over her and especially ruining dinner like that was paining me. "Babe, I'm really sorry. You know I don't want to leave, but she's still my sist-"
"Lukas, what are you waiting for, if she needs you, she needs you. You'll be missing out on some amazing pasta, but that means there's more for me." She laughed and the love I felt for her at the sight of that smile, was indescribable. No matter how badly Mia threated her these past days, she was still acting like her friend. I stood there watching her, an apologetic look on my face. "Gooooo Lukas." She dragged out, chuckling as her fork hit the plate with pasta in front of her.
"Come with me." I blurted out the idea without thinking it trough and by the way she paused her fork before putting it in her mouth she didn't think it was smart either. I just didn't want to leave her here by herself.
"I don't think she wants to see me right now." She let her head hang low, avoiding making eye contact. "I'll see you after." She said before eventually having a taste of dinner. "It's okay, really. I am keeping the t-shirt though." She suddenly laughed as she eyed over herself, my T-shirt loosely hanging over her body.
I raised my voice while getting my shoes in the living room, still talking to her as I put them on. "At this rate I'm going to have to go shopping for new clothes. You little thief."
"Just an insurance policy that you'll come back." She yelled from the kitchen all the way to my ears.
At the sound of that I popped my head back into the kitchen, still pulling one shoe over my foot. "Bells, you don't need that. You know, that right?" I said, I little bit confused why she thought she would need something to for sure make me come back. "Baby?" I almost felt my lip pout, still unsettled about just leaving like that.
