SCENE 24- THE STREETS
MILDRED- And then, just before the door closed fully, Regan harpooned the knife into the back of my leg, therefore sending me here!
FATHER- Wonderful! Though I thought my gripping description of the inside of Brother's stomach was a bit more exciting. But, then again, both stories had their ups and downs.
BROTHER- Mildred, I still can't believe we found you! How lucky are we that I wound up right next to you in the hospital!
MILDRED- I know! It's like I was in a story or somethi-
FATHER- What? Why would you say that? That's- that's ridiculous. Heh heh. Story. Ha. That's impossible!
(FATHER awkwardly laughs, and when MILDRED isn't looking FATHER looks gives camera a scornful look)
MILDRED- Well, Father, now that you are out of Brother's stomach and I am no longer an orphan, what do we do?
COUNT HEMLOCK- Well, how about this for an ending- Mildred goes back to jail, Father and Brother must say goodbye to her forever, and I will get everything I wanted.
MILDRED- Count Hemlock!
COUNT HEMLOCK- Yours truly.
MILDRED- What are you doing here?
COUNT HEMLOCK- Well, I was informed of you amazingly idiotic breakout, and knew that I had to do something about it. So, I did a little snooping, and found that you were residing in the Hospital Hospital for Children Hospital. I alerted the cops, and they are now here to arrest you.
MUSTCRANK- I knew I would find you, Mildred.
MUDSHOCK- Yeah! Your ketchup flinging days are over, little girl!
DETECTIVE- Not if I have something to say about it!
BROTHER- Who are you?
DETECTIVE- I am a Detective for hire, located on Blah Blah Blah something something something Avenue Street whatever. And I have the proof that Mildred here is innocent.
MRS. FLANNELS- Yeah!
COUNT HEMLOCK- Hah! Impossible! Show me!
DETECTIVE- Fine! Come here, sir, and show them what you're made of.
MR. KREEVY- Hello, everybody!
MUDSHOCK- Now who are you?
DETECTIVE- He's the proof of that girl's innocence. You better pay attention, if you don't want to count on losing your job.
KREEVY- I saw what happened the night Count Hemlock visited the orphanage. She didn't do anything but come up with snarky comebacks.
DETECTIVE- And a shark gave Mildred her mother's dead body. She didn't kill her. If you want, he has some leftovers to prove it.
COUNT HEMLOCK- Well, then where is this shark you're talking so much about.
DETECTIVE- Winter is coming. He had to collect food. Thankfully, though, I found the card that he wrote to Mildred.
Dear Mildred,
I am sorry for eating your mother. Mistakes were made.
TTFN,
Big Angry Shark.
If that is not enough evidence, I don't know what is.
COUNT HEMLOCK- Well- well- she killed that friend of hers, Molly! That girl! She was found dead in Mildred's arms, and nobody was there to prove she didn't!
