Chapter 6

Lavinia’s P.O.V.

Puno ng takot ang dibdib ko habang palakad-lakad sa labas ng pinto ng operating room. After the shooting incident that happened not more than an hour ago, agad naming dinala sa pinakamalapit na hospital si Greyson. Malaki ang pasasalamat ko na halos limang minuto lang ang layo ng pinakamalapit na hospital mula sa restaurant kaya agad itong nabigyan ng lunas. They have been inside that operating room for more than 30 minutes now and I’ve been waiting here full of anxiety, drowning myself in all of negative thoughts that could possibly happen.

Hindi ko mapigilan ang pagusbong ng pinaghalong pagaalala at galit sa puso ko. I’m so close into crying but I refuse to let go of my tears. Crying won’t help me in this situation. I still can’t believe how those fuckers stoop this low just get my head. Fuck them! Ni hindi man lang nila inisip na posibleng may mga inosenteng maaring madamay dahil lang sa kagustuhan nilang mapatay ako. They should be thankful that I wasn’t able to get a good look of their faces or else this day won’t be completed without them meeting the grim reaper face to face.

Napaligon ako kay Pyro ng makita kong papalapit ito sa akin. He did get a gunshot too but it is only on his left arm so it not that deadly. Nanatili ito sa restaurant upang asikasuhin ang iba pang sugatan. Si Greyson naman ay higit pa sa dalawang tama ng baril ang natamo sa likuran kaya agad ko itong isinugod sa ospital. I’m kinda thankful that he seems to not have any headshot or else it is going to turn out really bad for all of us. Hindi ko alam kung meron pang ibang tao sa resto ang napuruhan bukod sa kanya.

“Please tell me that everyone has been brought to the hospital now.” Nakikiusap kong wika rito. Fear, anger and conscience is starting to eat me from the inside and I don’t know how long I can hold my emotion by myself. Hindi ko mapapatawad ang sarili ko kapag may inosenteng mamamatay dahil sa nangyari kanina.

Pyro give me a sad look and right there and then I know there is a bad news waiting for me. “A five year old kid got a deadly headshot.” Pakiramdam ko ay unti unting akong lulumubog sa sinabi nito. “I’m sorry Lavinia, she’s wasn’t able to make it in the hospital.” That’s when everything came crashing down towards me. Isa-isang pumatak ang luha na kanina ko pa pinipilit pigilan. Nanghihinang napasandal ako batong pader ng ospital.

A fucking kid? A fucking five year old kid? Kuyom ang kamaong napadausdos ako paupo sa sahig. Naramdaman ko ang pagyakap sa akin ni Pyro subalit tila walang pakiramdam na nagpatuloy ako sa tahimik na pag-iyak. I’ve stolen a life in exchange for my own. That was just so selfish.

“It’s all my fault, I should’ve settled it on my own but I am coward!” Puno ng galit sa sarili na wika ko. Hindi ko na dapat hinayaan na umabot pa ang lahat sa ganito. Now a five year old kid lost her life while Greyson is fighting for his inside the operating room.

“No sweetheart, don’t blame yourself. It is not your fault.” Pagaalo nito sa akin na marahas kong ikinailing. No he is wrong, it is all my fault. If there is someone to be blame it was me. I am the one that they want to kill. It should be me. I should be the one who died not her. She’s too young and I’ve already taken everything from her.

“We both know that all of those bullets are meant for me.” Katwiran ko. They have successfully tracked my location, it means that I cannot stay in here anymore or else baka mas marami pang tao ang madamay. Hindi ko kakayanin kapag mayroon na namang taong mapahamak dahil sa akin. It’s time for me to face the monster who started this. I don’t care anymore is this is going to lead me to my deathbed. As long as maisasama ko ang mastermind sa pamamaril ay ayos na sa akin.

Pyro cupped my cheeks and made me look at him. I can see the pain in his eyes and I know that he is grieving for that little girl’s life too. Sa restaurant nito nangyari ang insidente kaya alam kung masakit rin para dito ang nangyari. His eyes always hold that playful sparks on it that I’ve come to love but now it is gone was replace with raging of anger towards those unidentified men who immediately escape after shooting hundreds of bullets towards us.
