Chapter 16

Lavinia’s P.O.V.


“Finally, I’ve been waiting for your arrival for weeks now.” Wika nito. Isang malisyosong ngisi ang nakapinta sa mukha nito habang ang mata ay hindi inaalis sa akin.


Hindi ko mapigilan ang bahaw na matawa sa sinabi nito. “I didn’t know you are that excited to meet your maker,” Wika ko na hindi inaalis ang tingin rito. Nakapagtatakang wala akong makapang takot sa dibdib ko sa kabila ng hawak hawak nitong baril na nakatutok sa akin.


I know Greyson and Pyro can sense that I am in danger. I haven’t heard a single gunshot, meaning they haven’t find out yet what is happening outside this woodland mansion. I just need to hold on for a minute or two and wait for help to arrive.


“You’re brave, I’ll give you that. But sometimes, bravery comes with stupidity. You really think you can save him and get out of this place alone?”


Yeah, and if he thinks that I did enter this place alone then he is completely stupid. But then that is actually my initial plan if Greyson and Pyro didn’t attempt to stop me. Probably that’s what my enemies are expecting too since I am a lone wolf. I used to do things on my own.


I can’t help but surveyed the man in front of me. He is the same person who used to smile at people during election, he is the same man who pledge to protect his citizen. Behind those fake smile and fake promises hides a monster who is more than willing to kill his own people in exchange for money and power.


“I will do everything that I need to do just to save people who are dear to me,” Wika ko. “How about you? You wanted to kill me because I started to support the local agriculture?” That’s probably the most pathetic reason why someone would like to kill another person.


I honestly don’t understand other people’s logic most of the time. Yes, I do understand that somehow I am kinda ruining his business but it doesn’t have that much of effect in his real estate business. He can still purchase some land on other places. Rouen is important for me, that is the place where I grew up. It was my home. Of course, I will do everything in my power to protect it. But some people don’t appreciate it. Because most of the time people only think of one thing, profit.


Finally he put down his gun as he take a deep breath. I’m still keeping my guards though, he wants to  kill me and he will do so without hesitation. I need to be ready.

“You see honey you really don’t understand how businesses works. This is a developing country and those who can’t keep up needs to be remove. Why are you so worried with those small scale farmers? They can work as a construction worker in once I manage to put up a construction site here. Aside from that, it’s not as if I am not going to pay them for that land.”


I can’t help but look at the man in front of me with disappointment. Is that how it works for him? It’s not that I am against the development but we need those farmers too. That’s why I’m trying my best to save local farming, I’m sure those people wants to save their land too. There’s so much potential in agriculture. We just need to look for options to make the process faster and use modern technology to ease the labor. The problem is, small scale farmers cannot afford modern equipment, that’s why my option is to provide them the equipment that they can use. I’ve got the money anyway, why not use it to help my homeland. Farmlands are more than necessary to support a developing country. I don’t think I can eat gravel and sand for lunch.


“Development doesn’t mean you need to destroy those farmlands who feeds your ass.” I argued. “We can flourish what we have, why don’t we support them instead and provide them necessary education or seminar on how to maximize their crops.” Kumuyom ang kamao sa galit, “Of course you can’t do that, you won’t do that. Your family real estate business won’t benefit in that.” Mapait kong dugtong.


Sa sinabi kong iyon ay tumiin ang tingin nito sa akin. “A brave heart and a kind soul, I like you. It’s such a shame that we are walking on two different paths.” Iniangat nito ang hawak niyang baril at saka muling itinutok sa akin. “I really hope that you won’t take this against me honey, it’s pure business. Nothing personal.”


Napalunok ako. I take a bit of a step back. The courage that I have a while ago started to shrink. Where the heck are my mates right now? I tried to focus on my mindlink. Informing them that their lovely mate is in danger. Slowly he put his finger in the trigger but before he can even pull it a growling sound from the first floor got both of our attention.


Then the next thing I hear is the sound of roaring gunshot and growling animals. That seems to get the attention of the man in front of me, giving me a chance to cross our distance. I pull up the needle from my bag and before he can even point the gun back to me I have already prick the side of his arms with needle. Nabitawan nito ang baril na agad kong sinipa palayo sa amin. Kasunod niyon ay ang pagkatumba nito sa maduming sahig.

I let out a smirk as he take a few deep breaths. He won’t be able to talk anymore. Umupo ako ng patingkayad upang magkaharap kami nito.


“You know about what you have said a while ago, that I am a kind soul? No, you are wrong. I’m just as wicked as you are but you are right that we are walking on two different path. I want to help people and you want to help your family business. You know what made us two similar, we both share the same feeling when it comes to our enemy. We both want to destroy them.” I whispered at him with a grim smile on my face. I stand up and walk towards Rylan who’s eyes is solely focus on me.


“So where did my sweet and lovely godsister go?” Tanong nito na may ngiti sa labi kahit pa bakas sa mukha nito na nahihirapan ito.


“Nah, she died the moment this fuckers decided to touch the family who protected her.” Sagot ko. We need to leave this place now, Greyson and Pyro can handle this. I’m pretty sure they can create a good story about that paralyze mayor in floor. Rylan also needs a medical attention. May mga sugat ito na kakailanganing malinis at ma disinfect.


“Gosh, you stink!” Hindi maiwasang reklamo ko habang tinutulungan itong tumayo.


Ngumisi ito sa reaksyon ko. “Sorry sis, next time I get kidnap and tortured for weeks I’ll try to convince my them to give me a shower or so.” Pabirong sagot nito.


Napailing na lang ako rito. I’m glad that he is okay though, he is my best friend, my protector. We are maybe not related by blood but he is my one and only brother. Kahit minsan ay hindi nito ipinaramdam sa akin na iba ako sa kanila. He is the first person to step up and protect me whenever someone tries to hurt me.


We are about to walk towards the stair when he halted unexpectedly. Kunot noong tiningnan ko ito. “Any problem?”


“Is it safe to go down now?” Kunot noong tanong nito. I stop for a bit and listen to the sound from the first floor. The sound of the gun has now subside and the only thing that I can hear is the growling sound from the first floor.


‘Is it safe now? We are going down.’ I mind link to Greyson and Pyro. I don’t want Rylan to see a bunch of wolves killing people. He will surely raise an eyebrow if he saw that huge wolves help me save him.


‘Yeah, it is secured now. Carry him to the waiting car in the outskirt of forest. I’ll have few warriors follow you in distance. Let’s meet in the packhouse.’ Sagot ni Greyson sa akin. I nodded and look at Rylan who is waiting for my answer.


“It is safe now,” Pagaasure ko rito saka inalalayan ito pababa ng hagdan.


“Fuck,” He muttered upon seeing few dead people. Some of them has been killed brutally and I can’t help myself but hold my breath to prevent myself from vomiting. This is the reason why I prefer to use needles when killing my enemy. I don’t think I will be able to eat tocino after seeing this.


“You did this?” Hindi makapaniwalang tanong nito habang isa isang tinitingnan ang mga lalaking nakahandusay sa sahig. Blood is all over the place, it was like a monster made a rampage inside the mansion.


“Do I look like as if I can kill people like that?” Balik tanong ko rito. Hindi ako mabuting tao pero hindi rin naman ako ganun ka demonyo. I wonder why Pyro needs to get them killed this brutally.


‘They have killed a young pup and threaten the life of our Luna. They deserve that death.’ Sagot ni Pyro sa akin.


I let out a sigh and just nodded even though I know he can’t really see me. An eye for an eye, this man showered Pyro’s restaurant with bullets without hesitation. We are just lucky because those people are werewolves that’s why the casualty is low. But then, if those are normal people, it could have been a massacre.


“I know you won’t do something as brutal as this Lavinia, how about the mayor up there? What will happened to him now?” Tanong nito.


Tuluyan na kaming nakalabas ng mansyon at unang sumalubong sa amin at ang preskong hangging panggabi. The place are still silent and there are few dead bodies around including the 6 person that we’ve killed before entering the mansion.


“I have given him a poison that has a similar effect when you have a stroke, it will fully paralyze him. He won’t be able to talk or move, no antidote, slow death in a span of two weeks.” Simpleng sagot ko.


I’m not stupid, I am not going to kill him in a way that people can trace the evidence back to me. He will die in front of everyone in a most painful way. His men can die and the media will not even talk about it, his family will be scared to reveal their connections to those lowlife people. But if I kill the mayor directly, that is going to backfire to me. That’s the last thing that I would like to deal with.


Rylan turn to look at me with a frown on his forehead. Tinaasan ko ito ng kilay, “What?” Hindi nakatiis na wika ko.


“Remind me not to anger you,” Wika nito na nagpangiti sa akin.


“Yeah, sure. I don’t want to accidentally inject you a poison that could make you impotent for life.” Nakangising sagot ko rito habang tinatahak namin ang daan patungo sa hangganan ng gubat.


“C’mon sis, you won’t do that. Don’t you want to have a mini me? I won’t be able to give you a niece or nephew if I became impotent.” Pabirong wika nito.


Tinaasan ko lang ito ng kilay. “You are a manwhore, I’m gonna bet $100. You have already impregnate someone but she just either abort it or she simply move away and didn’t want to introduce you to the child because you are an asshole.”


He just rolled his eyes on me in response, “C’mon. I’ve always use condom.” He argued but then I didn’t miss that sudden glimpse of fear in his eyes.


See? Even him is afraid that my conclusion might be true. I wonder what could Tito’s reaction if he learned that Rylan have accidentally impregnated someone. That’s surely going to be a great ruckus in the family.
