Chapter 33: The Promise

Flashback

Rosie POV 

"Lisa, can I ask you something?" Rosie says 

"Whatsup Rosie?" Lisa responds 

"Before we get on that plane back home, can you make me a promise?" Rosie replies 

"What is it?" Lisa says 

"If one day we find each other done with that place, and willing to let it go. We will leave it for good." Rosie says 

Lisa smiles and replies "I promise." 

Present Time 

"Are you sure about this already?" Rosie asks Lisa 

"Yes. I am starting to believe that Jennie and I aren't meant to be. If she could leave me more than once, if she could see herself with someone who makes her happier more than me. Whats the use?" Lisa sighs 

"What about Justin? or Ella?" Rosie asks 

"Ella is with Kai, I can visit her from time to time. I will still be in Justin's life. I'll have my parents visit me with him. I'll send them money monthly for his expenses and what not. It just breaks me because I wanted this to be my end game. A family with Jennie, I got it but it didn't last." Lisa begins to cry now 

"I love you, Lis. You are an amazing person and I will go anywhere you go. but.. how are you going to tell Jennie about this?" Rosie says 

"Ill write her a letter, I don't think I can go through with it, if I face her in person. I love her too much. I just might stay." She says 

"When do you want to leave?" Rosie says 

"Day after tomorrow, I already have the tickets. I hope thats not too soon for you." Lisa says 

"Of course not. I'll get packing. We will be okay Lisa." Rosie smiles 

Lisa hugs Rosie as Jennie enters the house 

"Hi Rosie." Jennie smiles 

"Hi Jen. Take care I gotta get going. I'll see you later, Lis." and Rosie leaves 

Jennie POV 

"Hi Lis, how are you?" Jennie asks 

"I am fine Jen, how are you and V?" Lisa genuinely asks 

"Happy. Lis.. I just want to say thank you for letting me be happy. Thank you for being with me through it all. I am sorry I couldn't keep my promise with you and I being against the world. But I am really happy Lis. I really am." she says 

"There is nothing more I would ever want for you Jen, but this. You being happy." Lisa says with her voice cracking, she walks up to Jennie and kisses her forehead then makes her way back to her room 

Third Person POV 

7 days have passed since Jennie and Lisa's interaction. Jennie has been spending most of her time at V's apartment. But this night, she decides to go home first. 

As Jennie enters the house, she feels a different aura, it seems quiet. She calls out for Lisa to see if she is home, but there was no response. Just a sad echo. 

She goes to her room and lays on her bed, she accidentally drops her phone, as she went to grab it from the ground she finds a piece of paper under the bed, she brings it out to see what it could be. 

Its a letter.. from Lisa... dated the night before the break up. 

"Hey Baby. 

I miss you! I just want to say that you have been such a blessing in my life. I know things have been hard for us lately. I know you think I have been distant, please don't think that I have someone else. You know I will always love you, I can't see my life growing with anyone else. 

The moment you came into my life, I thanked God, because I got so damn lucky that I fell in love with the most incredible human being. God did wonders in making you. I fell in love with your smile, your beauty, your good heart, your patience, your kindness, the way you put your family above your own happiness. I know it can get tiring, but I promise you, that I am only working this hard for you. I have been busy because I am up for a promotion and if I get this, we can afford your dream wedding, your dream house, your dream destination. 

Please don't get tired of me, baby. This is all for you. For us. Hang in there. 

I love you so damn much, Jennie Ruby Jane. I will spend the rest of my life proving that I will always put your happiness above mine. 

I'll see you in the morning, baby. I love you. 

Lisa"

Jennie couldn't help but cry, she realized that Lisa did put her happiness above her own, besides the letter that was under the bed, there was also a shirt, Lisa's shirt. The one she wore the last time she slept on the same bed as Jennie. 

Jennie ran to Lisa's room, only to find it empty and clean. There was no trace of Lisa or her clothes. But on the bed she found a note and....their pictures together. 

The note said: 

"Hey Jen, 

I love you. I love seeing you happy, even if its no longer with me but the more I am around you the more I realize that I am lying to myself. I always tell you I am okay and I am getting better but how can you say that when your world has been taken from you? 

But I am letting you go, there is no fight anymore when it comes to your happiness because you have already won it with V. I hope he takes good care of you. Tell him I am not mad. Tell him he is lucky to be chosen by you, and I hope you guys last. I really do. You are so damn beautiful when you are happy. Stay happy, Jen. Don't feel bad about this. I need to do this for myself. 

I am letting you go. Not just for you, but for myself as well. 

Don't look for me. Stay where you are. Stay happy. Know that I will find the time to visit Justin and Ella and send money. You don't have to worry about them not being able to see me, I'll see them whenever I can. Just live your life. 

Goodbye, my old love. Smile." 

Jennie started crying hard, she took her phone and tried to call Lisa but the number was no longer in service, she called Jisoo, Irene, Seulgi and they all said they didn't know anything.

So she called Rosie, and true enough her number was also no longer active

She called V next 

Jennie POV

"Babe? Whats wrong why are you crying??" He says 

"She's gone. Li.. lisa left. I don't think she is coming back." Jennie says crying 

"Wait for me. I will be right there. Everything will be okay. We will get through this." V says 

V POV 

"Lisa left? maybe she just went away for a while?" V says 

Jennie showed him the letter, her hands were shaking as she handed it over, he read the letter and just hugged her tightly 

"Jen.. I don't know what to say. I love you, you know that right? I love you so much, I will never leave you. I will always be right here for you." V assured her 

"Can you just spend the night here, and stay with me til I fall asleep" Jennie asks him 

"Sure, Jen. I am right here." V said 

Third Person POV 

Jennie puts on Lisa's shirt, she cried even more when it still smelled like her and she forced herself to sleep, on a bed she would never share with her old love again.

During the night, Jennie would wake up hoping everything was a dream, that she could still run to Lisa, but it was never just a dream. 

She faced V who was sound asleep next to her and she couldn't help but cry, not wanting to wake him up, she went into Lisa's office. It was exactly how she left it, pictures of them together, the screen saver was of the night they go engaged. A piece of paper on the table stating that she finally got the promotion, and a note on the side saying "I finally made it, Jen. I made it but I don't think you needed me to make it anymore." 

So many reminders of how much Lisa loved her was around their house. She didn't know what to do, she always thought that her and Lisa would find their way back to each other, but she knows she messed up, and because of this, she had lost her for good. 

Only Lisa could love so much, that she was willing to let go of her own happiness, was the last thought Jennie had before falling asleep on Lisa's work desk
