Sapphire

"Cali, wake up. Breakfast is ready and you definitely don't want to be late on your Placement Test..." I heard Kuya Kairon's voice.

I scratched both of my eyes. "I'm still antok, Kuya."

"You're still antok? How about kaltok? Joke!" Kuya said and the next thing I knew, hinihila niya na ako palabas.

Napuyat ako dahil sa pag-rereview. Today is the Placement Test on Sapphire Academy — the school where I will study. I passed the Entrance Exam. And I figured that if the Entrance Examination is not easy, then the Placement Test won't be too. It will probably be harder than the former.

They said that the Placement Test is important because it will determine which class you'll belong.

There are 6 classes in the academy. Class A to F. Class F, the bottom class. Ang sabi nila, doon daw mapupunta 'yong mga pasang-awa. And then Class A or the Star Section, the highest class. Doon naman mapupunta ang mga mag-totop sa test.

"Don't study so hard to the point that you'll miss out a good sleep." sabi ni Kuya while we are going down stairs.

"Kuya, are you saying that because you're afraid that I'll accelerate again?" I said jokingly.

One year and three months ang tanda ni Kuya sa'kin. I've accelerated for a year, the reason why Kuya and I are both 1st-yr College Students now.

Kung tutuusin kasi, Senior High School pa dapat ako. Lagi ko siyang jinojoke na kabahan na siya dahil baka maunahan ko siya na mag 2nd-yr.

Kuya Kai laughed and ruffled my hair. "Hey, I'm not! I'll always be happy for your achievements. I'm just saying that you should take care of yourself."

Natawa rin ako. "Joke lang, Kuya!"

"May mga namamatay kaya dahil sa pagod at walang tulog!" bibig ni Kuya, eh. Ayaw pa mag-stop!

"Hubby, magluto ka pa ng hotdog. Kulang ng isa..." narinig namin ang boses ni Mommy sa kusina.

"Okay na 'yan, wife." ang Dad naman. So, si Daddy pala ang nagluluto ngayon? Wow!

"Christan Apxfel, mamili ka. Magluluto ka ng hotdog o kakainin ko ang hotdog mo?!" sigaw ni Mommy.

Nanlaki ang mga mata namin ni Kuya. Agad din niyang tinikpan ang ears ko. "My naman!" Kuya said.

"Ay... Good Morning mga anak." Mom greeted. "Kulang ng one piece 'yong naluto ng Daddy n'yo. What I mean is that siya ang walang makakakain kasi kakainin ko ang kanya– ah, basta. Maupo na kayo."

Natatawa kami ni Kuya at naupo na rin. Ang cute na kambal naman ay kumakain ng banana flavored cerelac. Daddy, on the other hand, ends up cooking another piece of hotdog.

"Good luck on your Placement Test, Cali." Dad said.

"And good luck on the Student Council, Kaikai." si Mom naman.

Kuya enrolled at Garnet Academy, while I'll be going to Sapphire Academy.

It's not that we don't want to be with each other... I just want to go home as much as possible. Sapphire Academy allows their students to go home every week. Si Kuya Kai naman, he needs to make a hard decision because going in and out of school may harm his life. Especially now that the news for missing and killed heirs are almost everywhere. Panganay si Kuya at tigapagmanang lalaki, he is exactly what the abductors want!
