Locked

My heart started to beat really fast that I can't keep up. Napahawak ako sa dibdib ko.

What is he saying now?

"Gusto kitang ipagdamot, pero alam ko namang wala akong karapatan para gawin 'yun..." aniya at ngumiti. "Sino ba naman ako, 'di ba?"

I-I don't understand... Why is he confusing me like this? He doesn't like me, right?

"Pero Cal, pwede mo ba akong pagbigyan? Kahit ngayong sem lang, hayaan mo ako sa tabi mo. Hayaan mo akong protektahan ka sa paraang alam ko."

Unti-unti akong tumango.

The Midterm Exams were hella crazy, but Jax helped me so much. Tiga explain ko siya pag may hindi ako maintindihan sa ni-rereview namin.

Sabay kaming dalawa na nag-rereview. Ang lakas pa ng loob niya na dumayo sa bahay namin para mag-review, nakiki-snacks pa! Minsan gusto kong tanungin si Mommy... Baka kasi gusto niya nang ampunin si Jaxith?

"What if I'm not sure about the answer?" I asked him.

Nandito kami sa sala. Jax is eating cookies at may gatas pa! Tapos na agad siyang mag-review at nag-rerelax na lang ngayon!

"Lagay mo, pagmamahal. Dahil walang mali sa pagmamahal..." Jax said.

Agad ko siyang binato ng highlighter.

"Ouch, joke lang! Mahabagin!" aniya. "Pag hindi ka sigurado, 'wag mo munang sagutan. Try to answer other questions first and get back to it again. Pag hindi pa rin, make an educated guess. Ang importante, may sagot."

It's Friday and we'll check our exam papers. I am really excited and at the same time, nervous. I believe in myself. I know I did good... But I can't help not to feel a little nervous!

On our first two minor subjects, Jax got the highest scores and I went second. For the Math subject, my eyes widened when I saw that I only ranked three. Three! Jax is the first and Grant is the second! I was just one score away to be second, argh!

Inirapan ko si Grant sabay harap kay Jax.

"He got my spot!" sumbong ko na parang bata.

"'Di bali, punitin natin papel niyan mamaya..." Jax said.

Natawa naman ako roon. Sina Xuri, Gelo, at Cat naman ay naniningkit ang mga mata sa amin ni Jax.

"Na ol," bulong pa ni Xuriella.

When we are checking our exam papers sa English subject, I was pretty confident. I could bag the highest score here in this exam!

I almost jumped when I saw my perfect score! Iwinagayway ko ang exam paper ko sa mukha ni Jax.

"Perfect ako!" I said proudly.

"Matagal na," Jax said and his eyes were focused on me.

Kumunot ang noo ko. "Huh? Ngayon lang ako nag-pefect sa English!"
