It all started with William Afton and Henry Emily (See chapter 'Henry Emily?' for an explanation of his surname).
They moved to Utah together, along with William's wife, to start a restaurant chain. William and Henry build and run a restaurant, 'Fredbear's Family Diner', in 1973, starring animatronics 'Fredbear' and 'Spring Bonnie' (at some point, 'Freddy', 'Bonnie', 'Chica' and 'Foxy' may have been introduced). William has three children, two sons (Michael and another son with no canon name) and a daughter, Elisabeth.
