Practically immediately after the end of Sister Location, William Afton went back to the FNaF 1 location, which was still open despite lack of demand. He destroyed all of the animatronics, but became haunted by the ghosts of five of the murdered children. He attempted to hide from them by putting on the old Spring Bonnie suit, but the springlocks failed and he was crushed.
30 years later, a horror amusement park opened, called Fazbear Frights. It was based around the 'unsolved murders' of the restaurant chain. They found the Spring Bonnie suit that William died in, with his decades-old corpse still inside it, and kept it as a prop. William's spirit was revived by this (again, canon not theory) and possessed the suit (referred to as Springtrap). The building burned down.
