Chapter 11

"What's all this?" asked my mom as she lifted my mattress and found all my extra money.

"I got a job," I said.

"Yeah right, where did you really get this money from?" she asked.

"None of your business," I said.

"Actually it is my business, I'm your mother," she said.

"Whatever," I said.

"Don't say 'whatever' to me, you're grounded," she said.

I rolled my eyes. "Ground me then, see if I care."

I snuck out before my mom noticed and went to Archer's house.

We immediately got into his car and we crossed the border to Canada. He pulled into the parking garage at the Caesar hotel and casino.

We checked into our room and got ready for tonight.

"Happy 19th birthday, kitten," he said and he gave me a kiss.

We went down and played some of the slot machines. I didn't win anything.

"Would you like a drink?" he asked.

"Sure," I said.

We went over to the bar and I ordered a martini.

After that, we had dinner at one of the fanciest restaurants.

At the end of the night while in bed, I got a text from my mom.

Mom: where are you?

I decided to ignore her and just go to sleep. I'll deal with that tomorrow. Tonight is about having fun and celebrating my fake 21st birthday.

"Where have you been?" asked my mom.

"I've been hanging out with my friends like I said."

"Really? Because I went by Ana's and you weren't there," she said.

"Well I've made some new friends," I said.

She sighed, "please, just be careful, okay? Don't do anything stupid. I feel like I can't even have you under control anymore."

"I'm fine mom, promise."
