Chapter 5

Today sucks! I spent most of it with Madel, I don't like my involvement with the company, I feel like my feet are about to fall off and me and Madel have to compete for COO.

I looked at the paper bag coke left for me, ayaw ko sana 'yon isuot, malay ko ba kung sino ang huling nagsuot no'n, baka mamaya may alipunga, mahawa pa 'ko. But I actually have no choice, pakiramdam ko nga ay hihiwayalay na sa akin ang paa ko, aarte pa ba ako?

I took the sandals and wore it, hanggang sa bahay ay iyon ang suot ko. I've learned my lesson the hard way today, bukas ay flat shoes nalang muna ako. I need to ice and rest my feet, kung hindi ay baka tuluyan na akong hindi makapaglakad.

We spent the next few weeks doing exactly the same thing. Waking up very early, getting on the same car, Madel annoying me every morning, and the same tiredness at the end of the day.

Today is a little different, may meeting ngayon at kailangan naming mag-participate; like input things that are relevant to the topic, iyong makakatulong at hindi mema.

"Kiara..."

How can we do it though? We haven't even been in the company for a month, hindi pa nga namin gamay ang SWOT.

"Kiara!" Bahagya akong nagulat nang sipain ako sa paa ni Madel na katabi ko lang naman.

"Ano ba?!" Naiinis ko pang sagot sa kanya, hindi ko tuloy napansin na kinakausap pala nila ako, si Madel at iba pang officers.

"Ma'am ayos lang po ba sa inyo?"

Wft is it that's alright with me? I have to calm down, hindi ako pwedeng mataranta, mahahalata nila n hindi ako nakikinig, heck, I don't even know what they're talking about...

"they're asking if your in? Are you?" Pag ulit pa ni Madel, now with a smirk formed in her lips.

"See, sabi sa inyo hindi nakikinig eh." Narinig kong sabi ni Madel.

"No, no, no... I'm in." I insisted, kahit na hindi ko alam kung ano ang sinasabi nila, I won't give Madeline the satisfaction to laugh at me because I'm not listening, so I'll say yes.

"Ma'am are you —" I didn't let her finish, my ego is currently winning.

"Sure? Yes," I even scoff to assure them. I peek at Madel. Surprisingly, she looks amused. Parang natuwa pa sa ginawa ko.

"Then settled..." Madel said while slowly standing up, "... you'll be on the site for 3 months and I take care here in the company." Halos malaglag ang panga ko sa sinabi nya.

Did she say on site? Is she serious?

"Site..." I said under my breath.

"What? You said yes, Didn't you?" She said mockingly. Nakakainis ang kurba ng ngisi n'ya.

Katulad nang inaasahan ko ay pang-iinis nga lang ang ginawa n'ya sa akin habang nasa byahe pauwi. "See you next week... Oh, that's right you're not riding with me."

"Yes, because unlike you, I have a license to drive."

"I know how to drive..." Napipikon n'yang sagot.

"Where's your license then?"

Mabilis nabawi ang masaya n'yang pang iinis kanina dahil sa sinabi kong 'yon. Dito man lang ay makabawi ako, alam naman n'ya na ayaw ko ng lumabas, tapos ay isa-suggest n'ya ako sa site? Anong gagawin ko do'n magbibilang ng graba?

I really hate her.

I went home, pagkakain ay dumiretso na ako sa kwarto, samang sama ang loob because of the stupid site supervision.

A knock came to my door, bago pa ako makapagsungit ay natunugan ko na kung kaninong kaluskos ng paa ang papasok, it's Papa. I tried to put myself together and calm down before he could fully enter my room.

"Kira? Are you still awake?" he sofly asked. It feels like the first time again, him calling my name softly.

"Yes pa, may kailangan ka po?" I answered, mula sa pagkakahiga ay umupo ako para makausap ko s'ya.

"No, I just... " huminto sya sandali, "I just want to commend you, Agatha told me na ikaw daw ang mag su-supervise sa site. Is it true?" he asked while sitting beside me on my bed.

"Yes pa... actually about that — " hindi nya na ako pinatapos at nagsalita na rin agad.

Hinawakan nya ang kamay ko at tinignan ako sa mata, for some reason, I saw he's going to be sincere to what he's about to say.

"Thank you." I am about to say that I don't like it but how could I now?

"You don't know how much this means to me." he comes closer and kissed my forehead. Gusto kong umiyak. Ngayon lang ulit naging sweet sa akin si papa.

"Good night Kira, rest tonight."

"I will," I noded and then watch him close my door.

Wala na akong choice kung hindi ituloy ang pag supervise sa site.

The weekend passed and it's time for me to be on the site. Today is my first day, and I really don't want to go, pero wala naman akong magagawa, so I just took a deep sigh and hope for the best.

Unlike what I said to Madel, hindi ako nagdrive mag-isa papunta sa site, I just know that I'll be too tired to drive by the end of the day so I asked papa for a driver.

Pagdating ko sa site ay nakaayos silang lahat, halos nakapila para lang salubungin ako.

"Our boss, Marylyn Kiara will stay with us for 3 months to oversee the happenings in the site, so please do your best and don't disappoint." Sabi ni Mr. Antonio na tunay na supervisor.

I greeted everyone with a smile. Hindi ko alam kung ano ang gagawin ko dito sa site for 3 months, bukod sa pag papanggap na alam ko ang ginagawa ko.

I oversee everything, matatapos narin ang building, its been constructing for almost six months. Mabilis ito kumpara sa iba. But as a construction company we assure clients that faster service doesn't mean weaker foundation. Matibay at quality parin ang gawa namin.

Pinapaypay ko ng kamay ang alikabok ng semento sa hangin at paligid na nagpapaubo sa akin. Bumabakas iyon sa damit ko kaya panay rin ang pagpagpag ko.

"Miss Alcala." tawag sa akin ni Mr. Antonio.

"This is my assistant supervisor..." sabi n'ya sabay tapik sa balikat ng katabi. "I believe you've met sa Celebration party? Matutulungan ka nya sa pag supervise dito sa site. Especially when I'm not around"

Coke greeted me with a smile, pinalabas nanaman no'n ang dimple n'ya. I can't remember his name still but I hope to work great with him.
