~Chapter 4~ Final Selection

We walked and reached home, it seems Urukodaki knew that my breathing had to do with the sun, moon and stars, which is why he told me to train early. Tanjiro went training again today when all I did was feel the sun, moon, and stars. I would secretly go out at night to feel the moon and stars. As Tanjiro went home today, it looks like he understood 'Be a man'. Which is great! He trained for 6 months now and I went to see his fight with Sabito. I secretly followed him and watched from behind the bushes, though Tanjiro noticed.

"(Y/N), if you want to watch, you can just sit there."

I got out from the bush and went to sit near the boulder I sliced, they then started fighting. My eyes widened as I saw Tanjiro's katana reached Sabito's mask first. I smiled and congratulate him. He then smiled back and patted my head. He looked at the boulder with a shocked face, he sliced it! He than ran towards me and hugged me.

"Tanjiro..."

I hugged him back and I noticed that my height was almost as tall as his. Now that I remember, Tanjiro is 16 this year right? And 2 years has passed since I came to this world.

'How am I as tall as him? Other people would think I was the same age as him'

Tears suddenly fell out of my eyes when I remembered Tanjiro's achievement.

"(Y/N)-san?!?!"

I wiped my tears away from my eyes and smiled at him with joy.

"You did it, Tanjiro!"

We went back home and Urukodaki prepared us a hotpot feast.

'It looks so delicious...!'

"Urukodaki-san, why is it you're preparing us this feast?" Tanjiro asked.

"I want to reward you two before you guys go to the final selection. So eat in!"

"Thank you! Dad."

I think he was shocked when I called him dad, but all he did was nod and gestured us to eat. I ate as much as I want to and I had a big appetite this time. Tanjiro looked at me shocked, he was probably thinking something like 'How does such a small girl has such a big appetite?' After we ate, I thanked 'dad' again for his meal and went in my room. I wrote on my diary before going to sleep. I wrote about how we got to this point and then went straight to bed.

I woke up the next morning and this time, I wore my Indigo shirt with my black jacket that I wore when I first came to this world, it was easier to move around in it, the pants I had was a dark blue legging that Tanjiro forgot to gave me, but he gave it to me today. I then wore a star hairpin that I didn't notice was in my jacket's pocket the whole time! I walked outside and Urukodaki gave me and Tanjiro a fox mask. The mask I had was dark blue, a sun was painted on the left eye, and there were the paintings of the moon and stars as well! Me and Tanjiro thanked him and went out to Mt. Fujikasane to go through the Final Selection Examination. We both encouraged each other on the way, and planned to stay together no matter what during the trial. We reached there and there are so many people I might faint. I'm not used to being around so many people. There were two girls, one with black hair, and one with white, they look like twins! They suddenly started speaking.

"We thank you for coming here tonight." They both said in perfect sync. It kinda freaks me out.

"To the Demon Slayer Corps Final Selection."

We started the seven day life in this mountain full of demons, not only do we have to worry about the demons, we also had to worry about food and water, though I trust we could get through it with Tanjiro around. Tanjiro headed East to where the sun would hit first, I followed him from behind. I felt something coming from above.
