Pearce's P.OV
She loves me she loves me she loves me. That was the only thing I could think about as we stood there, engulfed in the light of the setting sun as it collided with the horizon, yet the presence of the girl in front of me encapsulated my attention more than the beauty that currently held us.After all, she was more beautiful to me than any sunset.
I couldn't help but smile, reminiscing in this moment that I shared with the girl who had stolen my heart all those months ago. It still seemed so much like a dream, knowing that she was here, standing next to me, and ready to start a new life with her sister, my family, and myself. I could never ask for anything more, and, deep inside, I knew I would never need anything more than just Y/N. I wanted to spend every waking moment with her, and know her in a way that no one else could. So, I decided, what better way to do that than ask her out, right?
Normal P.O.V
Y/N had noticed Pearce becoming slightly distant as they pulled away, yet a smile remained on his face, as if he were lost in his own musings. The girl couldn't blame him, but curiosity pulled her in, and she found herself looking deep into his eyes and reading the thoughts that swam throughout, feeling slightly surprised when she saw what was on his mind.
Pearce Joza taking me on a date? Guess I should've seen it coming after today.
The teen knew she should've expected it, but nervousness and insecurities had been her constant companions for years now, and they stopped her from seeing the excitement.
Surely, he couldn't actually want me? Yes, we may love each other but, what if after this, he loses those feelings? What if he decides, after one time, that we're better off the way we were?
Y/N sighed, the motion bringing Pearce back to the realization that they were there, together, and the stars were starting to shine.
"Y/N? What's wrong?" he asked, his eyes reflecting the concern and care he'd always held as the girl's constant companion.
*sighs* Again, he's been my best friend for so long, so why would that change?
"Um, well...you see, I...I just couldn't help but look into your mind right now and...."
She paused, almost giggling at the instant blush that crossed the boy's face.
"So...you caught all that, huh?"
"Um, well yeah. But..."
Before she could finish, Pearce unknowingly interrupted.
"Well, I guess there's no point in postponing the question then, right?" He chuckled nervously before continuing, "So Y/N, how would you feel about me taking you out on a date?"
She glanced over his anxious features, immediately feeling bad for doubting his true feelings and deciding to hide her doubts...for the moment. She'd tell him some other time, she resolved. Now gazing directly at Pearce, watching him unconsciously bite his lip in anticipation, the girl released another small sigh before smiling slightly.
"Sure Pearce. I'll gladly go on a date with you."
Y/N watched a smile grow steadily onto the teen's features until it looked like he couldn't get any happier. She almost laughed at how truly joyful he looked, but before she could make a comment, he let out a relieving breath.
"Well, that's good news", he breathlessly laughed, rubbing the back of his neck. "I was afraid for a second you were going to say no, even after...well, after what we just did."
It was the girl's turn to blush as she remembered the kiss she had shared with the boy, her lips still feeling plump and soft whilst the memory of his own came gladly to mind. Her doubts about the date were now forgotten, though somewhere, deep in the back of her mind, she knew they weren't truly gone.
