CHAPTER FIVE:

Third Person P.O.V.:

The first night had been a memorable one for Charlie as he had finally moved into the Gryffindor student quarters. He shared a room with Harry and Ron as well as his other new friends, Neville Longbottom, Seamus Finnigan, and Dean Thomas.

The six boys laughed the night away as they got to know one another while unpacking their belongings. Ludo had become fond of Harry's owl, Hedwig and Ron's rat, Scabbers. It made the boy happy to see his furry companion love his new home just as much as he did.

The next morning, Charlie awoke with a smile on his face. For the first time in while, the young boy slept peacefully. He looked at the ground to the left of his bed and saw Ludo still in a deep sleep. The brown eyed boy got out his bed and went to the restroom to start his morning. When he got out, he got dressed in his Gryffindor robes and headed downstairs for breakfast before any of his roommates had even awoken yet.

As he walked into the Great Hall, he noticed Hermione Granger sitting at the Gryffindor table reading a book. He took a sat down opposite her and startled her as he spoke, "Morning. What are you reading?"

The bushy haired was confused at first as to why the brown eyed boy had taken an interest in her after she had been so rude to him the night prior, but still she answered him, "Hogwarts: A History."

"Wicked," he said with a small smile, as she met his gaze for the first time, "Anything interesting in there?"

She watched the boy intently as he grabbed an apple from the food platter in the middle of the table. For the first time, she took the time to appreciate the young boys chiseled features, but her admiration didn't last long as she was snapped back to reality when he began waving a hand in front of her face.

Hermione had then realized the weirdness of the situation, "Why are you talking to me?"

Charlie had nearly choked on the bite of his apple at her very blunt question. He looked at her with a furrowed brow, "Should I not be talking to you?"

"No, it's just," the brown eyed girl began to explain, "After our first encounter yesterday —"

The boy cut her off quickly, "I already told you not to be sorry for what happened. I'm not one to get my wand in a knot over a simple misunderstanding."

The girl nodded and smiled sweetly as she assumed this to be their fresh start. The boy in front of her reciprocated her smile before he spoke again, "Come on then. I'll walk you to Transfiguration."

He grabbed her book for her and took one last bite of his apple before getting up and walking towards the Great Hall doors.

She watched the boy from behind as he walked away before quickly getting up and running after him. Hermione Granger just made her first friend.

Hermione and Charlie sat next to one another in Transfiguration that day. Every now and then, Charlie would look up and smile at the girl's focus on the subject.

He looked around the room, and couldn't help but wonder where Harry and Ron were. Class had begun nearly ten minutes ago and there was still no sign of them.

Then, as if on cue, the two came running into the classroom. It might be most effective to add the fact that for them it appeared that McGonagall was no where to be seen, as she now sat on her desk in her animagus form.

Which would prompt Ron to say, "Phew! We made it. Could you imagine the look on old McGonagall's face if we were late?"

Charlie couldn't help but laugh as he saw Hermione roll her eyes at the ginger haired boy's comment. That was when McGonagall jumped off the desk and transformed back into her human form to scold the two boys for being late.
