Chapter 4 :The past - part: one

(This chapter is told from twenty's point of view this is his story)

(One year ago from present time in the story)

"Happy birthday twenty!" My mom yells.

"Happy 11th birthday my double dime" says my mom.

I don't really like birthdays , they're kind of disappointing since my dad left .
All the days seem to flow together , I lost track of time . I didn't even know it was my birthday. But here's to another birthday I guess one more day without my dad , but at least my moms here .
She's an addict though , whenever she gets High she tells me how much of a mistake I am . Today's the cleanest I've seen her so I'll enjoy it while it lasts . Put a smile on my face and go with it .

"Thanks mom love ya" I say smiling and blowing out my candles.

I don't really want to eat the cake . I'm not a fan , I'd much rather go to McDonald's. I love their fries .
I always get the same thing every time I go ,
a number 2 with a large fry and a McFlurry
and a 10 piece chicken nugget with another large fry and a coke or something else toxic they're serving.

8:00? "I'm gonna be late" I yell.
I can't find my mom .
I run towards the bus but I just missed it.
I'll have to get Jared to take me .
If you don't know who that is he's a crackhead that lives next door . He's my moms dealer .
Pretty sure they're screwing , but I don't wanna know.

I knock on Jared's door but he doesn't answer.
I walk around the house and check his backdoor.
It's unlocked?
I walk in ... he's on the floor passed out.
"Jared!" "Jared!" "JARED?" "Jared?" I kept yelling his name but no response. I lean down and check his heart beat . He's alive , unfortunately .
Looks like I'm walking to school today . Great .
I head for the side walk. Oh great I stepped in gum. This day couldn't get any better. I just keep walking . Finally I get to school after a 6 mile walk .
I walk into class .

"Quarter! You're late! Again. Learn how to arrive on time so you can stop interrupting my class." My teacher says .
"Uhh it's twenty . And - and I - I- I'm sorry" I say nervously.
Just to fill you in my teacher Hates me .
I should've just ditched today , Or here's an idea I just jump out of the window and head for the nearest van offering candy . Yes they might sell me , but at least someone would actually want me.

"Okay class wel"
The teachers talking but just ignore it
Im zoning out per usual.
Someone threw a paper airplane at my head .
I hear laughing from the back of the class .
I turn my head to see who it was but instead .

"Quarter! Pay attention my head is here not back there" my teacher yells .
Everyone's laughing at me . I'm really trying to have a good day really.

*bell rings*

Ah yes lunch . My favorite class , it has food , and I get to sit alone .

I get my lunch I got a pizza slice but it looks like a glob of goo . Gross . I'll just skip this meal . I go and find a table.
"Hmm hmm" I sing and mumble to myself .
Just trying to pass the time.
Someone sits next to me.
"Hey dude" says a kid.
"Umm hello?" I say confused.
"So no one likes you right? well this weekend we're all going to hangout in some old cave thing , something about some myths and stuff , it's just off lawton road , a couple mile walk but I think if you come maybe you can redeem yourself and people will actually like you" the kid says.
"I'm not really interested.. but - but - maybe I could I'd have to see I mean just let me know when - and uh.. stuff" I say nervously.
"Yeah that's it Ive lost interest in talking to you offer still stands though" the kid says walking away.
The day goes by in a blur next thing I know I'm on the bus ride home.
"Twenty your name is stupid" some random kid says .
Yeah well at least you know it I was thinking to myself I wasn't going to actually say anything I'd just embarrass myself .
Some random girl taps me on the shoulder
"Happy birthday twenty and by the way I think your name is pretty cool" she says .
"Umm thanks I didn't think anyone knew." I said.
"We should sit together tomorrow on the buss?" She says .
"Uh- uh- okay , sure" I say shocked .
Here's my stop . I turn around and smile at the girl before I get off .
