Chapter 14: monarch

I wake up to hear Roselyn and Caleese talking.
"What's going on?" I ask.
"You need to rest Atlas." Roselyn says.
"Just tell me." I say.
"The villagers are going insane without their king they're terrorizing each other." Caleese says.
"So I did kill him." I say.
"Yes." Roselyn says.
"Good to know." I say.
"We have to do something to stop the people." I say.
"No Atlas , rest please." Caleese says.
"Rest isn't what I need." I say.
"Maybe he's right , Caleese told me about your new powers . We should teach you how to control them." Roselyn says.
"Good idea , and after we go after the villagers." I say.
"Atlas no." Caleese says.
"I'm going after them wether you support it or not." I say as lightening starts to appear in my hands.
"Okay , okay I'm sorry." Caleese says.
"I didn't mean to get mad." I say walking outside.
Roselyn follows , Caleese stays behind.
"Okay Atlas let's practice." Roselyn says shooting magic at me.
I absorb her magic and turn it into lightening I strike luckily Roselyn moves because I burned everything in the path.
"Wow." Roselyn says catching her breath.
I think about everything my Sensei taught me.
"I think I have it under control." I say.
"Do you?" Roselyn asks.
"Yes." I say.
I don't know if I do, but I'll get it.
We walk back inside.
I see twenty messing with everything as usual.
"Let's go." I say.
"Where?" Twenty asks.
"To fight." I say.
"No Atlas." Caleese says.
"No one said you had to come." I say getting mad.
Caleese runs upstairs mad.
Twenty follows me out.
We go to see what's happened to all the villagers.
Everything is on fire. The villagers are running around attacking each other.
"Are you ready?" I ask twenty.
Twenty pulls out his sword.
"Ready as I'll ever be." He says.
"STOP!" I yell.
All the villagers look at me.
"This is sickening to see you all go against each other , your king had to die." I say.
"He's the one that killed him." A villager says.
"Attack him!" They all yell.
I strike the ones coming at me with my new powers as twenty stabs some of them.
"STOP!" I yell.
"This doesn't have to be this way." I say.
"We can't survive without a king to lead us." A villager says.
"You don't need a king." I say.
"Yeah you can all do your own things." Twenty says.
"Do our own things?" The villagers say looking confused.
"These people really don't get it." Twenty says.
I see a man come out of the castle pulling a sword out.
"Oh no it's the kings right hand man." Twenty says.
"We have to kill him." I say.
I strike him before he has the chance to make a move on us.
Twenty climbs up his body and cuts his head off.
"Satisfying." Twenty says.
"He killed the Kings right hand man." One of the villagers says.
"Those who have killed the king and his right hand man shall be the new leader." They say.
"You want me to be your new king?" I ask.
"Yes." They all say bowing.
"Don't do it Atlas." Twenty says.
"I Claim this offer I am your new King." I say feeling powerful.
"We'll declare you king tomorrow at sunrise it'll be your coronation." They say.
"We'll take you to the castle." They say.
"Before we go I want this one to be prince if anything happens to me he takes the throne." I say pointing to twenty.
"Yes sir." the villagers say guiding us to the castle.
"I'm prince?" Twenty asks.
"Yes." I reply.
"This is the best day of my life." Twenty whispers to himself holding back his excitement.
"What are we going to tell Caleese?" Twenty asks.
"The truth that I'm king." I say.
"But , she's not going to like this." Twenty says.
"Silence child." I say.
They begin doing their rituals that they do for a new king.
"You must select what guards you want sir." One of the castle workers says showing me a line of scared men.
I look down the line.
I see lots of different options.
"I'll take the ones in the middle." I say.
"Yes sir." The worker says.
"And who shall be your right hand man?" The worker asks.
"Roselyn Veil." I say.
"But sir she is from the other tribe?" The worker says.
"I don't care give me what I want!" I say.
"Yes sir." He says.
"Now id like to go home for the night but I'll be back in time for coronation." I say walking away with twenty following .
"Roselyn?" I ask.
"Hello." She says.
"Don't say anything but I'm king now coronation is tomorrow and I decided to make you my right hand man." I say whispering to her.
"I accept this offer , don't say anything to Caleese." Roselyn says.
We all go to sleep.
It's time for coronation we all try to sneak out.
"Where do you think you're going?" Caleese asks.
"We're going to get some food." Roselyn says.
"We have plenty of food here." Caleese says.
"Where I go isn't your business you didn't care Yesterday and I thought I'd made it clear I don't need your permission." I say walking out.
Everyone follows including Caleese but she stays away from us she just wants to know where we're going.
Everyone bows and chants my name.
"King Atlas king Atlas!" They chant.
It's like a dream come true reminds me of when I was king in my own time.
"Today we shall crown Atlas to declare him king ." The man says.
"With all power vested in me I now announce you king." He says as he places the crown upon my head.
I feel all the glory as everyone chants my name.
"What is your name young man?" The man asks twenty.
"Twenty." Twenty says.
"And prince twenty." He says places a crown above twenty's head as well.
"Right hand to the king , Roselyn." He says.
"Thank you all , you people are in good hands." I say.
We all walk to our thrones inside.
"I could get used to this chair." Twenty says.
Twenty sniffs the chair.
"Is that leather?" Twenty asks.
"Yes." I say.
"Huh cool." Twenty says.
I see the guards bring in someone.
"King Atlas a women has been trying to get inside the castle." The Guard says.
"Reveal her to me." I say.
They take off her hood and it's Caleese.
"Release her at once." I say.
"Caleese what are you doing here?" I ask.
"You all left me back at the other village so I followed behind I watched the coronation. What were you thinking?" She asks.
"Simple he wasn't." Roselyn says.
"Enough ive heard enough from both of you." I say angry.
"Atlas what's gotten into you?" Caleese asks.
"There's nothing wrong with me I was king once I can do it again." I say.
"This isn't right we need to go back home." She says.
"What's wrong Caleese? You don't want me to be king. Are you scared?" I say walking over to look Caleese in her eyes.
"You are not the man I know." She says as she turns around.
"I guess not." I say going back to my throne.
What am I thinking? I ask myself .
All of this is wrong she's right we should leave but I can't abandon all these people just to make her happy and I can't stay if it's going to make her hate me.
It all comes down to her.
"I need some time to think." I say as I walk up into my new bedroom.
What if I make Roselyn queen and she can stay and take care of these people.
Whenever I come back I'll be king. We'll share a throne.
I walk back down to speak with Roselyn.
"Can I talk with you for a moment." I say to Roselyn.
"Yes." She says walking with me.
"I know Caleese isn't happy with me so I thought maybe I could compromise." I say.
"What are you thinking?" Roselyn asks.
"What if I make you queen while I'm away, and whenever I come back here I'll be king." I say.
"We'll share a throne?" She asks.
"Yes." I say.
"I think Caleese would be happy with that." Roselyn says.
"What about you?" I say.
"Me? As Queen? Like my dream come true." She says smiling.
"Then let's do it." I say.
